Josh Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers RB (1 Viewer)

What are the thoughts on him? Does he have any future value or is he just a scrub backing up Bell? He had an ok preseason but had extremely limited touches. Just not sure if Bell goes down will Harris be "the guy" or will it be a committee.

He seemed to have good measureables coming out of college, but he ended up falling through the entire draft.

He was hurt a bit in college and there's this weird story about his coaches "sabotaging" his draft stock

He's a bit straight-line-ish but can still be a good fit to the ZBS (which is what Munchak and Pitt now run). I think he plays fast. He doesn't cut particularly well, but plays within himself and doesn't try to dance.

If Bell got hurt, there's not much on the roster to committee him with. Dri Archer would get a few touches, but not enough to affect the already lottery ticket value of a UDFA getting a spot start. They probably add another vet backup next year? Would be interesting if they don't.

I don't have any inside info on him or anything, but the only other RBs on the roster are Archer and the FB, Johnson. Archer is listed at 173 lbs, I seriously doubt he could be effective with even 10 rushes/game. They only have 1 RB on their practice squad, and he weighs less than 200, as well.

I would think that if Bell got hurt, Harris would get the bulk of the carries, although I don't know how successful he'd be with them.

I'm in. He jumps off the college tape with one cut, burst through the hole, and speed--which is what I like to see in my RB scouting. Just Bell in front of him in the feature back mold, and Ben has mentioned their concerns with running Bell into the ground. I'm betting he gets chances soon to spell Bell.

No carries yet, but I'm assuming he'll get some here and there for the rest of the season. Running Bell into the ground is just absolutely horrible coaching. Even Big Ben said it was a bad idea. They have arguably the most valuable RB (long term) in the league. If he gets hurt due to the workload he's getting then somebody deserves to be fired.

I know nothing about Harris but I picked him up in dynasty a week or two ago because I figured somebody would have to give Bell a breather and I don't think Archer is that guy. He's definitely worth a stash and see if you have roster room because he should at least get the opportunity to show what he's got. Worst case is you drop him in the offseason and best case is you can sell him off to the Bell owner as a handcuff.

Here's just about the only article I can find on him: http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2014/11/20/Speedy-RB-Josh-Harris-gets-shot-with-Steelers/stories/201411200265

Here's a nice quote from Bell:

“He’s a phenomenal runner,” starting running back Le’Veon Bell said. “I’ve been watching him all year. I’m glad he’s going to get the opportunity. I’m excited for him. He’s been doing a great job. Now he has to take extra precautions and stay in the playbook and things like that because he’s no longer a practice-squad member.”
