I didn't see a player spotlight for him, but I think he has major breakout potential. What do you guys predect he will do this year and into the future? I especially like him in dynasty leagues, but I think he will also be good this year.

This year: 50-650-4 (I think that's his upside this year)

I think he's a nice WR4-5 to have for potential down the road. I just don't see him being an every-week starter anytime soon.

I took him in two drafts recently. #1 WR's on run-first teams make for great WR3 or WR4 who fill in during bye weeks. Santana Moss and Justin Gage are also solid picks in the double-digit rounds. I'm planning on a floor of 800 yards and 6 TD's for these guys.

I'd say 800-6 if we're lucky. I like Morgan, like Hill, but it's still a shaky situation and Crabtree will be on the field at some point. Not a starter yet, but still dynasty gold.

I am not sold on Morgan. If he can stay of the field, he can go 800 and 6. I worry that he can't stay in the bulk of snaps this year, and he really goes 500 - 3.

On paper he has the tools, but he doesn't appear to be getting the game.

 From what I have seen and heard its the opposite. SF is expecting big things from him and I really think he has huge potential. He has all of the tools to be a #1 WR IMO and I don't see Crabtree affecting that either way. I don't think Crabtree will ever play for SF, but even if he does he has so much catching up to do that I don't think he will be a factor this year. By this time next year I think Morgan will have established himself as the #1 WR in SF and I can see 1000 yds this year for him.

Sounds like his rookie year where he was injured for a bit and about 3 preseasons games this year with revolving door QBs.Have to give it time and we'll see what he does in games that count.

Is he the 49ers number one WR? From what I was hearing he was having trouble cracking the starting lineup.

Here is a recent article about him:

Second year WR ready to shine

SANTA CLARA – Josh Morgan is a 220-pound wide receiver who can run 40 yards in less than 4.4 seconds. He's the best leaper on the 49ers, a strong blocker in the running game, and he's an infrequent visitor to the training room.

With first-round draft pick Michael Crabtree engaged in a protracted holdout and likely useless for the early part of the season, Morgan is the 49ers' biggest threat as a playmaker as the 2009 season begins.

Now he has to make good on that threat.

Morgan's rookie year was a season-long tease. The sixth-round pick out of Virginia Tech was the unexpected star of training camp, so much so that he pushed veteran Bryant Johnson for a starting spot as the regular season approached. But his ascension was derailed by a staph infection that caused him to lose 15 pounds, and he didn't get back on track until midseason.

Morgan caught a 31-yard touchdown pass in a nationally televised game against Arizona, and his 48-yard touchdown pass from Shaun Hill capped a dramatic comeback win in St. Louis.

Morgan is the same guy he was last season, but he's finding the expectations are drastically different. He has gone from being a pleasant surprise – a bonus – to being counted on as the team's most dangerous offensive weapon. And coach Mike Singletary is keeping the pressure on, twice questioning Morgan's consistency this summer.

Morgan said it's no different than last year.

"Even though the coaches didn't expect much of me, I expected it of myself," he said.

Morgan said he might be putting too much pressure on himself because the team did not run a lot of passing plays in the exhibition season.

"We really haven't thrown the ball downfield at all this preseason," he said. "It hasn't had the chance to happen."

Indeed, the 49ers finished the exhibition season ranked last in the league in passing. Singletary and offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye have said their first priority is establishing the running game. The passing attack will follow.

Morgan vows he'll be ready when it does.

"I'm not expecting to surprise anybody this year," he said. "This year I'm more focused on being consistent, making the big play every time, not just here and there."

The cream rises to the top. He's by far the most talented WR on that roster.

I just get the feeling that should his lack of try continue Singletary will make it very difficult for him to see his share of opportunities.

I think he's extremely underrated. I think after a few weeks have passed, people are going to see that Josh Morgan has serious potential.

He's a 2nd year WR and is perhaps the #1 option in the passing game excluding Gore. Pair that with Singletary's intensity and eccentrism and it wouldn't surprise me to see Coach riding him hard. That doesn't mean he isn't trying, it just means Coach is still pushing him and not letting him think he can coast on his considerable talent. That speaks as much about the coach as it does the player. And it may mean that Singletary sees his potential and likes what he sees.

I drafted him to flop my #3/#4 around with Gage, Kevin Curtis and Mark Clayton. Those guys are behind Fitz and Holmes and Gage and Morgan could play together in week 4 due to bye weeks. I am not expecting much overall but this week would be nice as I played him instead of Gage.

He is the type of player that wins fantasy teams championships.

Like waiver wire gold Antonio Bryant last year. Josh Morgan is poised to be that same player

:lmao:I think this is Singletary's ham-handed way of ensuring that a very talented player is going to work to reach his full potential. He strikes me as one of those coaches who rides you if he likes you.
