Julie Schenecker double murder case wrapping up (1 Viewer)

Is there no thread about this case in the FFA? The case is about to wrap up. She shot both kids in the head, and then in the mouth 'for being mouthy'.

http://www.hlntv.com/article/2014/04/28/schenecker-julie-murder-trial-shot-children-tampa

From wiki:

On January 28, 2011, police visited the property after receiving a call from Schenecker's mother, who expressed concern at not being able to reach her daughter. Officers found Beau Schenecker in a sport utility vehicle in the garage and Calyx Schenecker in her bedroom; both had been shot with a .38 revolver and covered with blankets. Julie Schenecker was found unconscious on the rear porch covered in blood.

Police stated that Schenecker admitted to killing her children because they "talked back and were mouthy". A police statement said, "She described the crimes in detail." A note was allegedly found in the house describing a plan to murder her children and commit suicide. According to the arrest affidavit, Beau was shot twice in the head on January 27 while being driven by his mother from soccer practice. Schenecker then drove home and killed Calyx in her room as she was doing her homework on her computer. The revolver had been purchased five days before the killings. Calyx was found on her bed covered by a blanket

Seems like this case should have wrapped up quicker than this. You have a confession, you have a note, and you have premeditation so the crazy angle is tenuous.

Doesn't sound like there's much to discuss. Horrifying, and she admitted it. Is the point just that it's important that as many people as possible be exposed to as much horror as possible?

Prosecutors believe Schenecker planned the murders days earlier. Court documents state the murder weapon, a .38 Smith & Wesson, was purchased by Schenecker five days prior to the killings.
At the time of the killings, Schenecker’s attorneys say she was being treated for depression, bipolar disorder and substance abuse. Court documents show that Schenecker has a long history of mental illness.
HOORAY AMERICA!!!! GUNS FOR EVERYBODY!!!!

Family annihilators often plan ahead. Even going so far as to take out insurance on the victims.

Might be nice to prohibit gun sales to teh crazy, though.....

This pretty much sums up why it's not being covered in the FFA.
Actually for all it's "I don't care" attitude the FFA doesn't really like stories about child killings.
Casey Anthony trial thread was 45 pages.
Yeah that was a big national case with all the attendant media blitz driving it. Plus she didn't confess so that leads to back and forth. And she got off which led to more pages of back and forth. So that was a little different. There is a reason "Thanks Posty" is a thing after all.

And Knox and Arias....
Knox and Arias weren't involved with killing children.
Yeah, but they were sexy murderers with multi-page threads here. Ugly just don't move the needle.

Oh I agree completely. What was done to our mental health system is a national disgrace and then to put a gun in everyone's hand on top of it is a monumental failure of leadership.

They were also major stories. I never heard of this one and the case is what 3 years old?

And the reason they were major stories was...?

It's just like the old cliche how no one cares about kidnappings unless it's a pretty white girl.

Yeah but now we aren't talking about the FFA tastes anymore, we are talking about if it bleeds it leads and if the chick is kind of hot even better.

Its been all over CNN the past week or so...but I admit I don't remember hearing about it when it happened, only when the trial was getting set to kick off, and it happened here in Tampa.

My idea? Charge anybody who sells a gun used in a crime with a crime themselves. If a bartender or bar over-serves a patron and they kill somebody drunk driving, they can get in big trouble. Time we change the laws here. I bet gun sellers would think twice about selling a gun to somebody who looks like this if they knew they could be held accountable...

I posted a thread about this the day it happened and the mods deleted it. Word on the street is the post 2013 FFA has been a little less like Communist China and a little more like the Wild West, so it probably won't get deleted this time.

That may have been true until very recently. We're back to day 1.

Yup, anyone who walks into a gun shop in a jailhouse jumpsuit and handcuffs, its probably a good idea for the clerk to exercise his or her right to refuse service.

Yeah, I suppose checking medical history or asking them questions wouldn't reveal a hint of insanity in this case either. GUNS FOR EVERYBODY!

Just consider it a couple of late-late-late-late-late-late term abortions then I'm sure you'll get behind it

Jury didnt buy the insanity defense amd took less than 3 hours to render a guilty verdict.

Rot, you stupid c-word.

Just saw this story on the local news, glad the jury didn't buy that defense. Unfortunately, she'll probably appeal the verdict.
