I'm sitting here in my comfortable world, but I have to share what I feel about Super Bowl 44. I'm a 50 year old male who has been a Colts fan since 1966. I could go into my experiences in the past but that would bore you. I simply say that before I die I'm loving this experience. There is no way the the Colts don't win this game.

Pierre Thomas disagrees; Robert Meachem too.

There's a way, if something happened to Peyton Manning along the way or early on during the game the Colts would lose. If Peyton Manning plays the entire game then I agree, the Colts will win. With that said, I think most Colts fans at this point are fat cats already. My brother in law just visited me a few days ago and he lives in Indianapolis. I said (live in Detroit) I bet it must be crazy there in Indy eh, with the SB and all coming up this weekend. He was like no, not really. We kind of expect it now and we know we'll pretty much win it so there isn't a ton of excitement, a buzz. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Indy fans are "comfortable" like yourself and enjoying the experience but nothing like the fans and the buzz in NO where they've never been there before.

One thing is certain; if the Colts lose this game, the Manning haters will come out of the woodwork.
Yes they will, it's predictable. He can't win the big one...err he can't win 2 Big Ones, ya that's it.
As a Cowboys fan you should know about the haters coming out of the woodwork.I remember when the Baltimore Colts lost to New York Jets. I was in High School and had to work SB weekend at my always fun dishwasher job at the local Big Boy Restaurant. The Colts weren't supposed to lose that one either!!Saints 31 Colts 24My nephews in Indiana will be disappointed; my wife could care less. There's going to be a heck of a Brees blowing across Florida on Sunday that know Man(ning) can withstand!!

Didn't realize I was "attacking" him. He started a thread with a cocky statement and I made a jab at it. Similar to others making similar jabs at the few Saints fans doing the same. Personally, even if I thought my team was a virtual lock to win (which I don't), I don't get the postings stating as such. Lots of crow to eat on top of the loss. But hey, whatever floats some people's boats.

That's easy. I was a Colts fan in the 60s living in Ky. I have no allegiance to Maryland. I root for the horsehoe, the colors, and of course the players, wherever it calls home. Besides, they moved closer so I can see them more often. If the city of Baltiimore were ever able to retake the name Colts I would like that also, but it won't happen in my lifetime.

Great respect to your original post. I am a an older guy, have been rooting for the Saints since their birth, and I feel strongly about the Saints winning.I too was a Colts fan when I was a kid, when the Saints would fade (as they always did) I'd have to root for someone in the playoffs. Bert Jones (LSU boy), Lydell Mitchell, Raymond Chester, Dutton, those great defenses and coaches, etc., etc. And i pulled for them to some degree for a few years after, but I have to tell you something: Saints fans around Katrina-time would talk about whether they would still pull for the team if they left for San Antonio, and at that point I decided I would not. The fact that they stayed and the even closer bond that developed with our team and city that grew from that made me an even stronger fan. But the Colts? How can you forgive them? They up and left a very new Orleans like city in the dead of night leaving some of the best fans in the NFL, without warning. It was wrong. Even this game aside, I can't pull for the Irsays... it just seems wrong.

Yeah, I could see that. But the name, the records, the colors all belong to Baltimore. The father stole the loot but the son kept it.

Last time I checked the franchise is owned by the man not the city. The city of Baltimore was stupid. Instead of trying to keep the Colts name, colors, and records and let the franchise walk, they tried to obtain the team through eminent domain. The city of Cleveland was smart. They kept the name, colors, and records and waited on a team. I didn't like Robert Irsay, but he tried like hell to get the city of Baltimore to build another stadium. Memorial Stadium was outdated and was a dump. The city balked, so he took his business elsewhere. How could anyone blame him for doing what's best for HIS business? Most of the players on this team weren't even born when the Colts left Baltimore, and the current owner (Jim Irsay) is a great owner unlike his father. I think it's time to put this to bed.

"they tried to obtain the team through eminent domain..."No, actually they never did try that. One politician suggested that. Irsay Sr. took that as a reason to abandon 40+ years of devotion to steal out of the night like a thief, which he was.

By the way Al Davis had the guts to fight the eminent domain issue and he won. And Irsay never should have been fighting it in the first place.

Cleveland learned from Baltimore, that's all that could be said there.

Yes, it was his business built with the devotion, commitment, love and dollars from a whole city's citizens over decades. I'm not talking contractual rights here.

I guess I feel strongly about this and am just thinking out loud, but I don't expect anyone else to. You're obviously due much respect to you as a person and a fan and here's wishing your Colts good luck this Sunday.

then you were never a real Colts fan because there was no separating the team from the city. At least that's how the real Johnny U felt.

Well, even if he turns out to be wrong, he will receive a certain amount of accolades for having a strong opinion. It's a weird characteristic of this board that I have never gotten. I think it's because we have a lot of gamblers here.

How could you be a Colts fan since 1966 and say this? Do you not remember 1969? I think the Colts will probably win but they are going up against the #1 scoring offense in the NFL and an opportunistic defense. If Saints can generate the same kind of pressure on Manning as they put on Favre the Saints most certainly can win.

It was a shame that Indy had to get their Team by taking the Colts from Baltimore. I still feel uneasy about that all these years later. Baltimore loved their Colts and honestly, they never should have been moved. But, speaking for myself, when I heard the news Indy was finally getting an NFL football team, I could not help but be thrilled and excited (even if a part of me felt bad for the people of Baltimore). We found out soon enough that Robert Irsay was truly a jerk, but he had brought an NFL team to our city, so we were willing to live with him. I was a guy in my early twenties that loved football, but never had a hometown team to root for, so it was easy to embrace the Colts when they came to town. The Colts name, colors, and uniforms look the same, but the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Colts are completely different entities in my mind. It was a bit of a relief when Baltimore got a team of their own again (and a bit ironic that they got their Super Bowl victory before the Indy Colts did). I also found it a bit funny when the Colts would play the Ravens in Baltimore and we would hear all the hatred towards Indy for stealing their team, when that's essentially the same thing Baltimore did to Cleveland.

I can understand why people aren't able to get past the fact Indy took the Colts from Baltimore and are not able to root for them. I have a few sports team prejudices myself. (Don't ask me how I feel about the Patriots, Raiders, Yankees or Knicks. Lol) But, we have been the Indianapolis Colts for 26 years now. Jim Irsay is light years away from being like his father and is a great NFL owner. The franchise has done things the right way since he has taken the helm. Thanks to him, Bill Polian, Peyton and several other great players, they have taken us on an amazing run over the past decade. Would love to see them get another ring tonight, but still will be proud of them if they don't.

I'm as much of a Colts fan as anyone from Maryland when the Colts were in Baltimore. I've bled blue and loved that horsehoe for 44 years, and just as much, if not more than anyone alive IMO. As far as your statement "there was no sepearating the team from the city", well, in Ky there was no NFL team. The Bengals got a franchise in the late 60s, but I already chose the Colts at that time. Good thing I never switched teams :goodposting:

This is getting silly now with people riding the biggest NFL bandwagon of the season questioning fans of a team that just happens to have been moved from a city about how shameful that was, decades ago. So he said the Colts were gonna beat your team today? Get over it, it's just one man's opinion.

I meant no disrespect to the Saints when I said "there no way the Colts don't win this game". Hell, I would be rooting for the Saints against any other team. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Saints.

Brett Favre owns the biggest bandwagon in the NFL. His draw horses are pretty well known too; ESPN, John Madden, Pat Kirwin, Brad Childress, Gil Brandt, etc.Give Bus a call, maybe your team can work something out if you have enough $$$$$$$$$.

Yes Favre had a great year. His efforts this year were fantastic. He certainly helped to pull the Vikings out of the morass they were in at QB.

living in Virginia, I was a Colts fan as a kid, as were many other people in the area.

when the Colts abandoned their fans many here switched to the Redskins.

I instead became a diehard Cowboys fan.

I still fondly remember the Baltimore Colts but could care less about Indy.

GO SAINTS !!!!

Some Saints fans are a little sensitive these past couple of weeks and have chips on their shoulders (which will grow if the Saints somehow lose). But don't worry; the vast majority are dancing and yelling "Who Dat!" to strangers. They already beat the NFL into the ground this week. So this would be their second win. They probably didn't hear you anyway. Too much fun.

Well, I actually like and respect Manning... however, the Colt's fans have become so cocky lately- including you at the front with arrogant posts like the above and claims of "being informed by God" - that makes me a just a little happy to see your come uppance.

wow. I'm surprised people actually believed this, much less felt certain enough about it to start a thread like this.Saints were a very good team this year and deserving champs after going through the Cards, Vikings, and Colts.
