I just finished the kickoff of a new PPR Dynasty League with an Auction, $200 cap. I have the file available in .ddf and xcl format if anyone wants to see how it went down.
Early draft was very aggressive. I was sticking to Dodds' Perfect Auction 75-75% bid plan (bid on top 75 players up to 75% of their FBG Auction values). I HIGHLY recommend marking up your cheatsheets with FBG value, 75% value, and Average Auction Value to try to predict market value and worth for players.
I had to use Draft Dominator projected on a TV to run the draft, so was unable to let it guide me dynamically. This hurt me a bit, since as an auction rookie, I didn't really adjust well for team needs.
Based on the 75-75 rule, I landed some good players early for good value, so I was silent alot of the middle of the draft. I then had alot of sleepers/rookies to fill out my draft. 2-3 teams were patient and had money until the very end, but actually filled out their rosters before I did, so I was still able to get alot of $1 players unmolested once they finished. I just kept tossing them players they would covet for $2 until they were done.
I am assuming because it was a Dynasty kickoff, alot of the marquee players went for above market because folks knew it was 'their chance' to grab them for a few years (we have a Contract-Years based dynasty). A. Rogers was thrown out first and went for $27; even Westbrook and Portis still fetched $37/$29.
I was surprised that the rookies did not fetch as much as I expected. Rookies did not come out until late. Beanie went for $8, Crabtree/H. Nicks for $4, Dirty Sanchez went for $3. By that point in the draft, people had alot of their rosters filled with decent, young talent, so these guys came pretty cheap. I assume in our future Free Agent/Rookie auctions that Rookies will be at a premium as teams fill needs.
Anyways, I had a heck of a time finding PPR-Dynasty-Auction values, so would be happy to share the results. PM me and let me know what format you prefer if you'd like to see it.
