Just got a samsung gear vr- Turning into the official Virtual Reality thread. ios peeps welcome as well (1 Viewer)

I mean, I would be more than happy to share sites I've come across. But Jesus Joe used to frown on stuff like that. 

Now, me, I go for the PoV stuff. It's like they are right in front of me. Brings up memories of strippers. Could almost smell them. I don't need to see the regular stuff. Give me POV with clips over 3 minutes. It sucks when it's a 30 sec clip. Not worth the time

 
VR pr0n is a little meh.  I thought it was a good start, but it's like the industry is just trying it out.  I may revisit in a year when there is more content.  Most of the 3d content, even YouTube, isn't streaming 3d at a high enough quality to be completely blown away.  When they can do 3d 4k streaming with it will be nuts.

Well, yeah. Everyone is just scratching the surface. But it seems like a lot of time, money and resources are going into making this a thing

I read an article last week that all the big companies got together to work together to make this successful. Kind of like the tv networks working together for the cause. 

 
Brother gave me a viewer for Christmas.... very cool so far far.

Looking for suggestions for iOS options for apps/games, as well as wanting to dabble in the VR Pron... do you view in browser (I use chrome for iOS) or download videos somewhere and view thru a player app? Also curious on content sources/sites.

Okay found pron hub's VR section and works :eek:  well with FreeVRPlayer app on iOS. Curious about other sites.

love foxsports app 

just learned no Bluetooth VR controller works with iOS due to a system limitation. Any tips for workarounds?

Turn off the NFC.  The daydream uses the NFC, and automatically initiates the daydream menu when you put it in.

My fav app so far is Discovery VR   Its got amazing content that you would expect from Discovery Chsnnel like putting you in a shark tank or around a herd of elephants. 

VR Crosby Road is kinda fun. If you know the game it's kind of like and endless frogger

Googles cardboard is cool too. Similar to discovery vr

The Star Wars app has some cool vr and updates stuff from time to time

then you can always search YouTube and facebook for VR or 360 content as they both support cardboard

Got s Samsung Gear VR machine for Xmas. Totally interesting. Looking to add a bluetooth keyboard so that I can truly access all the apps I want. I'm interested in the NY Times app. I really want to watch the VR video by Run The Jewels, and that's the only platform it's on.

What's are the differences between the Google Cardboard and the more expensive hardware?

 
The ability for Cardboard to record a sound snippet is amazing.  I busted it out the other night at a Grateful Dead cover band.  If the "mood" is right I feel like I'm warped back in time to the place.  There is still a ton of potential.  I just caught a still image with a 10-15 sec sound loop, imagine a 4k stream or something.  2017 is gonna be huge for VR.  They are basically giving the headsets away on Amazon, so everyone will have access.  This isn't a fad like the 3d glasses for all the tvs a few years ago.

 
Are there any Google photo / VR guys here that would be interested in getting a little Google group going to share VR pics?  I have been taking a bunch of VR pics in  various places that I think would be cool to share.  It would be a cool way for us to visit different parts of the country.

How does one go about taking a VR photo. Im going to MSG tomorrow. Ill gladly take a pic there.

I recommend downloading the Google cardboard app, or the Google Streetview.  Cardboard captures a sound snippet, and is quicker to take because it doesn't capture directly below/above.  It takes about 60secs to slowly twirl around.  I did it yesterday at the kids Gasparilla parade.  A few people look at you, but whatever.

 
I wish there was a way to view 2d stuff with the goggles.  I know 2D is less fun, but I'm interested in things like watching movies/TV on what appears to be a large movie screen.

I think there is with Google Play movies.  I think belljr or someone was saying they watched a movie that way, and it just puts it on a screen for you.  A good option for an airplane

I actually cant watch amazon prime video on my phone in 2d or 3d

Ill look around. There has to be a way. You can watch videos you make in 2d. So just make a movie on your phone and you will be set

 
If there are any killswitch engage fans with a VR headset, do yourself a favor and put on next vr right now.
