A buddy just asked me to take over a team in his league. 12 team rotisserie league, $200 a guy, with these scoring categories:

Scoring for Batting Categories

BA - Batting Average

HR - Home Runs

R - Runs

RBI - Runs Batted In

SB - Stolen Bases

Scoring for Pitching Categories

ERA - Earned Run Average

K - Strikeouts (Pitcher)

S - Saves

W - Wins

WHIP - Walks + Hits / Inning
I can keep four positional players and two pitchers. Here is the team:
Martin, Russell C LA

Atkins, Garrett 3B COL

Reynolds, Mark 3B ARI

Rolen, Scott 3B TOR

Harris, Willie LF WAS

Lopez, Jose 2B SEA

Garko, Ryan 1B CLE

Anderson, Garret LF ATL

Berkman, Lance 1B HOU

Hamilton, Josh CF TEX

Span, Denard RF MIN

Suzuki, Ichiro RF SEA

Matsui, Hideki LF NYY

Pitchers

Cook, Aaron SP COL

Perez, Oliver SP NYM

Santana, Johan SP NYM

Vazquez, Javier SP ATL

Volquez, Edinson SP CIN

Gonzalez, Mike RP ATL

Gregg, Kevin RP CHC

Rauch, Jon RP ARI
Thoughts on who to keep? I need to turn this around by tomorrow, then draft next Thursday.

I left one guy off who was on the injured list end of last year: Furcal

Worth bumping anyone?

Thanks for all the help.

Vazquez and Volquez are pretty equivalent value wise IMO. I would prefer the upside of Volquez to the current solid value of a Vazquez in a keeper format. You can't go wrong with either, it just depends on what you're looking for.

I like Furcal a lot but wouldn't risk keeping him over the other four options mentioned above. The injury still leaves some cause for concern.

I won't argue that line of thinking, I just expect Vazquez's ratios to be quite a bit better than Volquez's this year. If Volquez can harness his control and keep the HR rates low he can match Vazquez but I see Vazquez's projected ratios as Volquez's upside.

Can't argue with the consensus here. I probably would take Volquez over Vasquez just because it's a choice of potential greatness versus a reliable veteran. Volquez could be a big bust, too, but you need to take some risks to win it all.

I pretty much agree with everyone else...

Berkman

Ichiro

Hamilton

Reynolds

Johan

Vazquez/Volquez

I don't understand the Martin love. Reynolds blew Martin away in four catagories. C is pretty shallow, but 3rd isn't real deep either.

Martin's production has dropped three years running. What are you guys seeing to make you think he'll turn it around?
