Devil's Advocate
Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas during a snow storm. Mountaineers and the Cowboys.
Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders in the same backfield. Well, not literally. They would rotate series. Three for Thomas, one for Sanders. Barry was only a sophomore at the time. Thurman tore up West Virginia to the tune of 157 yards and 4 TDs, the last being the game winner in a 35-33 final.
So I got to wondering. Has there ever been two RBs on the same college team who were even CLOSE to being as good as these two? I'd be shocked if there was. Sanders is in the Hall of Fame, and Thomas is a great bet to make it there as well. If there are two others who are in the discussion, I can't think of them right now.
It was pretty impressive how Thomas kept Sanders on the sidelines so much, even though Barry was a youngster. People tend to forget just HOW dominant Thomas was at OSU, since he didn't win a Heisman like Sanders did. That year, Thurmal had a 293 yard game against Iowa State.
