Could have thrown this in the AOC thread, but this is a bit broader than just her. The Justice Democrats and the closely related Brand New Congress are Political Action Committees which are actively running massive recruiting campaigns to find candidates and endorsing other candidates who fully embrace their progressive agendas. Justice Democrats recruited 12 candidates for the last Congressional midterms, of which only AOC was the only successful one. They also endorced another 66 candidates of which 6 won. These progressive candidates get a lot of free air-time on progressive outlets such as The Young Turks which are supported by big-time Democrat doners/investers such as Jeffery Katzenburg to the tune of $20 million.
The goal of these PACs and media outlets is to promote a team of hundreds of clone 'Bernie-type' progressive candidates who will take over congress and impliment their progressive platform. In fact it a litmus test, which at a high level includes:
GREEN NEW DEAL
SECURE A LIVING WAGE AND TIE IT TO INFLATION
ENACT A FEDERAL JOBS GUARANTEE
REBUILD OUR CRUMBLING INFRASTRUCTURE
BLOCK BAD TRADE DEALS
END TAX DODGING AND LOOPHOLES
END UNNECESSARY WARS AND NATION BUILDING
MEDICARE FOR ALL
FREE PUBLIC COLLEGES AND TRADE SCHOOLS
DEFEND AND EXPAND SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, AND MEDICAID
ENSURE PAID VACATION TIME, SICK TIME, FAMILY LEAVE, CHILDCARE
FIGHT FOR RACIAL JUSTICE
PROTECT WOMEN’S RIGHTS
COMBAT HOMELESSNESS
POLICE REFORM
ENACT COMMON-SENSE GUN REGULATION
VOTING RIGHTS
ABOLISH ICE
END CORRUPTION
REFORM OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM
STOP SELLING ARMS TO HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATORS
END THE FAILED WAR ON DRUGS
ABOLISH THE DEATH PENALTY
DEMOCRACY REFORM
OPPOSE BIGOTRY
DEFEND NET NEUTRALITY
At a high-level many of these sound OK to most Democrats, but diving down to the details such as those outlined in the Green New Deal are far-more radical.
Now there is nothing really illegal about this. Well except for maybe som of the "dark money" schemes which funnel money between various PACs to dodge FEC reporting requirements and having had people like AOC and her campaign lead on the board of directors of a PAC which contributes money to themselves. But let's not quibble over such violations. What is troublesome is how they spin these candidates and the propaganda they put out. There was the nicely produced propaganda piece which used a slick paintbrush style illustrations to promote wonderous outcomes of passing Green New Deal. That piece seems to have faded into obsurity as quickly as it rose.
Now there is a propaganda piece being put out on Netflix, which will appropriately first debut on May 1st, the highest regarded holiday of those not to be named countries both past and present. From the trailers it looks like another very slick production which I am sure will tug at the heartstrings of many. The problem is the story tells the story which the handlers want to tell, not a truthful perspective. They are not going to detail how these candidates are recruited. They are not going to tell how the agenda was crafted. They are not going to tell you how these women are pawns in their game to advacne their agenda. They are not going to tell the truth about the organizations which are funding them and running their campaigns. They are going to present a story of self-made determine women who rose above hardship to become leaders of some grass-roots effort. They are going to tell you how these women represent the people in their district, not that they are beholden to some national agenda.
The ultimate goal is to purge moderates out of the Democratic party and take control. This is really just a much more centralized and coordinated version of the Tea Party movement. For now the movement is still in the fringes. But they are well organized, are well funded and have very talented people putting out slick propaganda.
