even in the rain, is this a good week against atlanta to show that he's a quality rb in this league?

the raiduhs have a chance to win this one, and russell has made his ineptness clear. is fargas in for a good day?

I don't think the rain will hurt him. I don't think he needs to or will prove anything about his quality as a RB in this game. He's had some good games in the past when healthy and given the opportunity. I think the Raiders will run him a lot and that Atlanta isn't a very good run defense, so that will make for a decent day for Fargas.

It appears that no one else in the Raiders backfield is healthy, so this should be Fargas' week to shine. If he doesn't put up some solid numbers this week, can't see when it would happen.

I think he's got a decent shot at 25 carries for 100, although who knows if he gets the td, which is what really counts.

I didn't know it was going to rain -- that worries me a little w/the previous groin injury.

He hasn't scored all year. You would think he is due at some point. I keep going back and forth on starting him or Lendale White. I think Fargas has more upside possibly, but White has scored in every game but one.

I think his lack of scoring is fairly circumstantial, but I wouldn't start him over bakesale.

last year he had 9 double digit carry games, and only 7 getting 20+ carries --- he scored in 4 of those 7.

this year he's had mcfadden and a groin injury to deal with, drawing a couple tough run defenses in his last 2 games back from the injury, w/mcfadden hobbled.

he had an 18/97 game in week one, and the 28/74 game vs the jets in week 7 would be the only 2 games this year he's been in the 20 carry range.

I'd be pretty happy if he got another 28 against atl.

I just hope he doesn't aggravate that groin on slippery going.

I'm expecting a good stat-line until, as usual, the Raiders fall so far behind that they HAVE to pass. Nearly inevitable, as they can't stop the run or the pass, and the Falcons are good running and adequate passing. I think Fargas has 15 carries by halftime, and only another 7 or 8 after, and totals near 100 yards. Problem is that the Raiders can't pass, and will likely only sniff the goalline once or twice, no matter how soft the Falcons defense may be.

I think the sniffing the goal problem is dead on, but I don't buy the rest.

if what you say is true, then how does he get 28 carries while beating the jets, and 20+ over 7 games last year, including a whopping 33 vs denver?

w/o looking at any stats, I was under the impression that oak was a little soft vs the run, but pretty good vs the pass, and if they can take roddy white away they should be able to stay in the game vs a mediocre atl def.

I think atl is missing their left tackle, which should help some, too, and it's in oakland.

I hate being the one to defend oakland, but they got blown out by 3 of the better offenses in football (sd, no, den), along w/balt, who happens to be about the best at taking away the one thing oakland can do -- run the ball.

edit:

I'm tired and hungry, so I think I must've only read the first line of your post --- we pretty much agree on the #'s.

I thought you were making the case that he only gets 12-15 carries.

Is Bush hurt? I hadn't heard anything about that.

no he is not, and has a good chance to steal some carries and receptions this weekend

Yeah, you're right. My bad. A couple weeks ago Bush was active but didn't play and somehow I got the idea he was limited physically somehow.

Who's the candidate in a PPR league....MiBush or Fargas?
not really a question at the moment. I have stock in Mike Bush and love him running the ball in Oakland, but they do have an investment in fargas. He is going to get the rock at least 20 times tomorrow barring any sort of injury. Bush will get 5 - 10 carries and some looks out of the backfield for some receptions. Before they fired Kiffin, Bush had a wonderful game out of the backfield as Fargas was out and McFadden was limited, but now that Fargas is healthy, Bush is the CoP back. That being said, in PPR, if something were to happen to Fargas anytime in the near future, Bush would be a very nice RB2 in PPR leagues.

The Raiders are a bad team, but I have a funny feeling about this game. I think Oakland wins easily 24-10 and Fargas has a good day. We shall see.

Seriously considering dropping Fargas for the likes of either Cedric Benson or Jamal Charles. The Raiders are too much of a  to get much value out of.

I am dropping Fargas for the Carolina defense just to start the Panther D vs. Oakland. Had Oakland showed something vs. Atlanta, I'd reconsider. But that was just pathetic.
