K. Murray, D. Montgomery, and J. Downs for J. Mixon? (1 Viewer)

Hey everybody!

Got a trade offer today, trading away my three players for Mixon. Important notes:

1. Full PPR
2. I have Hurts starting over Murray
3. Monty is a starter for my team, Downs would be a fringe starter/flex
4. My team is likely a mid-seed playoff team, his team is likely out of the picture unless he wins out.

Is Mixon worth the package here? I don’t like mortgaging this much, particularly with the Texans bye coming up. Week 14 bye I’m probably starting Bucky Irving as my RB2. I’ve got the depth of WR to be fine though.

Postnote: if you add Pacheco to the Mixon side, is that a clincher?

I wouldn't even consider it. Especially with how injuries have been. Keep the depth.
Hurts goes down, you'll wish you had Murray.
Plus Monty scores close enough.

Thanks for the reply- I’m feeling similarly.

Would you feel the same about a counter offer that excludes Murray?

if you can get an adequate backup coming back or a RB lotto ticket I'd consider this.

the only downside with Mixon is he will get injured. gets hurt almost every year. but hes missed time already so he might be done with injuries for this year. Thats where the depth is a concern.

assuming Downs is your flex/fringe starter as you say, you are giving up a backup QB a backup/flex in downs along with Monty for an upgrade. I'd take that all day long. but if he has a lotto ticket or low end WR with some upside he can send back that would help with your depth.

and yes, if he added pacheco that would clinch it for me.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to see if I can acquire Pacheco (though I'm lower on Pacheco than many, I think he's a serious risk to sit until the playoffs given the team's trajectory), preferably without giving up Murray in the process. That trade (Monty + Downs for Mixon + Pacheco) seems somewhat lopsided in my direction, but his reaction will either encourage me to keep working on the terms or settle for what I have.

FWIW, the other team is quite weak. Part of why I'm targeting Mixon is because this other manager has very few starting quality players, and bye weeks are demolishing his chances of making the playoffs. If he had nicer lottery ticket options, I'd be targeting those as value, but the best I can identify as a "value piece" is a player like MVS or Javonte (both of whom are technically starters for this manager at the moment). But, unless he chooses to simply ride out the season outside the playoff picture, I figure he's in a position where he needs to make moves to gain more talented depth to survive.

I am not sure why everyone is so down on this deal. You are essentially giving up nothing of consequence to your team to upgrade from Monty to Mixon. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Now, I agree that if you can get another piece that has some upside it makes the deal better for you but in the end at this time of year moving depth for bettering your starting lineup is what you should be doing. The closer you get to the playoffs/end of season the less important depth is. If you lose a player to injury in game your season is likely over anyway in the playoffs. That depth doesn't help you when you are out.

Improving your starting lineup is the best way to succeed in the playoffs. By giving up depth that you won't use unless you have an injury is a good way to do that.

Totally agree but that is too much. It’s not the trade. I agree… give up more to get studs but that much isn’t necessary especially if Downs is his flex. That means this trade is hurting his team overall.

Downs with Richardson is basically useless. I am guessing he has a serviceable replacement to Downs for that spot. It's not hard to find replacement value for Downs with Richardson.

I do have plenty of WR help- Higgins is my primary backup WR when healthy, and I’ve been flexing Jennings. In a pinch I’m fine flexing a TE as I’m carrying Njoku and Hock.

That said, I decided not to make the trade. Monty and Mixon aren’t far enough apart in my evaluation to justify giving up on the depth; and while I’m in a good spot to make the playoffs, I probably need one more win to guarantee a spot, and week 14 when I’m playing the Mixon manager I should be a lock if I don’t revitalize his squad.

Thanks again everyone for the input! Much appreciated :thanks:
