(KFFL) Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Cleveland Browns have traded OLB Kamerion Wimbley to the Oakland Raiders for undisclosed draft compensation.

Scout.com's Adam Caplan reports that the Raiders have acquired OLB Kamerion Wimbley from the Browns in exchange for "undisclosed draft compensation."Wimbley, the No. 13 overall pick in 2006, led Cleveland in sacks last year, so the move is surprising at first glance. However, the Browns have stockpiled quality depth at outside linebacker, and could turn to Marcus Benard (3.5 sacks in '09), Jason Trusnik, Alex Hall, or 2009 second-round pick David Veikune opposite Matt Roth. In Oakland, Wimbley will likely start at left defensive end, replacing Greg Ellis. The 26-year-old will play with his hand in the dirt for the first time since Florida State.
WTF

Does Wimbley willingly get involved in the run game? This move is curious. We need a snotblower who can stone a FB.

Thomas Howard was misused as the SLB for the Raiders for the latter part of last year. Trevor Scott was playing WLB. I think there are two outcomes:

1) Wimbley at SLB, Shaughnessy at LE and Howard/Scott battling at WLB.

2) Howard at SLB, Wimbley at LE (Shaughnessy as backup) and Scott at WLB.

That's not Wimbley. His supporters (i.e. Phil Savage) claim that teams always run away from him, but in truth he's not a big run stopper. He's fast enough to chase down RBs from behind but not strong enough to shed blocks easily, let alone make the big hit. He's mostly a one move pass rusher. His outside turn the corner type move is extraordinarily fast and athletic. Unfortunately everyone expects that from him. Unless the opposing O-Lineman forgot his scouting report, Wimbley's not doing very much.

Is Mangini in some sort of race with BB to see who can stockpile more draft picks?
Seriously... if the Browns don't hit big on the 23248 draft picks we have this year, the front office is going to look pretty dumb. This particular move is about average. Wimbley was OK at times but certainly not great, which is pretty much worth a 3rd rounder.

Good move for Oakland - Wimbley was a stud his rookie year in Madden.
That's funny because building a franchise in Madden is very similar to how Al Davis attempts to build his roster. A withered old man, past his prime, who is so far detached from the life/culture of the current generation of players he is hiring and firing that scrolling over to the speed column in the player bio is his most relevant piece of information.
