Kava- Any Kava Users Amongst Us? (1 Viewer)

Been drinking Yogi Kava Stress Relief tea recently and enjoying the mellow vibe it brings on. The tea has a relatively small amount of actual kava root in it, but got me researching kava in general , and eventually ordering some kava root extract online. I was skeptical, but it works. Drank a few 4oz shells(cups) of https://nakamalathome.com/stone-kava-plant-extract spaced out over a couple hours tonight and I definitely feel buzzed, in a pleasant way. Anybody else tried kava? Thoughts?

A friends cousin owns a Kava bar in the area, and I have gone there a few times to check it out.  Have never gotten that buzz feeling associated with it.

It's big in Hawaii... a ways back I visited my friend there for three weeks and got a good (but weird) buzz going a few times.

Kava has a lot of good properties (anti-fungal, anti-anxiety, euphoric) but it is addictive.  Possible liver damage is still under debate.

When the wife and I were in Fiji we had this a few times. Actual Kava, not the tea...

The guy sat with a wooden bowl, w the shredded root in a towel and wrang it through for a good while... fills a smaller bowl, and in a circle you sip it and pass it to the right..

Well... as it goes down, it numbs everything. lips. mouth, throat, stomach. and a heck of a buzz. I believe they called it "natural novocane"

Our guide drank a bit too much and was absolutely thrashed for a few hours, he had to lay down... and the man drank it all the time

Haven't drank alcohol in 2019. Been downing a tumbler of this stuff to lube me up whenever my chick comes over at night. I agree that it numbs the inside of your mouth but disagree that it is addictive. It does not give you the runs. Just kinda chills you out without making you dumb like booze does. Feels pretty non-toxic to me, and I'm super picky about toxins (gluten free, won't touch fast food, quit cow's milk, I only eat real clean all the time, etc..). Also, about the potential liver damage - dude they say that about everything that's new. Back when creatine became popular in the 90s "liver damage" was the huge knock they were trying to convince you to be afraid of.

I must be doing it wrong. Were you on some type of spiritual retreat? It sounds like you were participating in native rituals or something

no man, they do this stuff everywhere. you can even buy the powder in stores to bring home (make sure it's legal first).

One of my patients owns a kava/Kratom bar, so the wife and I have been a few times. First time I had it, I was more relaxed than I’ve ever been in my life, and had the best sleep. Since then, I still get very chill, but not as much as that first time. I like it the effect, but the dirt flavor is a deterrent. I can take it or leave it.

My wife absolutely loves the effect. She’s buying gallon jugs and having it at home now.
