Are you okay with trading your depth with the possibility of getting burned by injury and finishing at the bottom or would you rather go all season knowing you should finish 4-6 range and hopefully make the playoffs?

Just curious as to how the majority of fantasy footballers think in regards to this issue...

Personally, if I feel as though I am on my way to the playoffs already, I will start to try and trade away any and all depth trying to make a run at the title. I am reluctant to do this before the majority of bye weeks though. Am I too conservative?

It's very high risk, high reward. Depends on if you're a gamblin' man...

I tried this tactic last year in my main league and it sorta worked. I thankfully avoided the injury pitfall, but got knocked out in the second round of the playoffs due to my opponent going bonkers.

When you make big trades and "shoot for the stars" it's no guarantee that you'll dominate. As you mentioned, you leave yourself one or two injuries away from getting knocked out of the playoff hunt. Also, you may trade for certain top-notch players, and they may start throwing up duds at the most inopportune time. So buyer beware!

Logically depth is far moreimportant than starting lineup over the course of the season. However, as you approach the playoffs (and before the league trading deadline) I can see a very valid strategy to shoot for a few big names at the expense of depth.

It's good to have one back-up just in case but you have to put out a good starting team as well. If it takes trading some depth to achieve that goal then so be it.

:moneybag: $$$ league. I typically try to keep my depth early in the season as long as I am in the hunt for the playoffs (Top 4 only make the playoffs). Then trade away much of the depth for studs if I can around week 8-9, but still keep at least one startable backup at RB. On the other hand, if after week 5 or so, I'm not anywhere near the top 6 or so spots I will trade it all away in an attempt to make the playoffs and forgo the detph.

You have to keep depth through the bye weeks...

I drafted mad depth at RB this season. Teams dont do a good job of preping for thier byes during the draft... That is where I will make my killing.

A guy in my league has Bush, MJD, McAllister, & LenDale White. All week 4 byes. Not to mention he started 0-2. So I might trade my depth early this year.

Studs win championships. I can get depth throughout the year on the WW.
:kicksrock: I will always do as many 2 for 1 trades or 3 for 2 trades as possible. Shooting for big game is the best way to win titles even if you have to over pay for that STUD.In fact the best part about having quality depth is being able to keep your studs intact and hopefully add another one.

I'd rather have studs starting and less on the bench, if for no better reason than to prevent second guessing yourself.

If you have LT, Addai, and Najeh Davenport, you have no doubt who you start.

If you have Alexander, AD, and Rudi, you'll drive yourself crazy.

until one of your studs gets hurt...then your starting davenport :lmao:

i can completely relate. There is something to be said about having a Palmer, Manning, Brady on your roster and never having to touch that change of lineup button.
