Keeper advice couple with 1st round pick advice (1 Viewer)

Hey all,

Many and any thanks in advance. 12 team keeper league, standard lineups, 1 PPR but 1 for every 20 receiving yards as opposed to 10 rushing yards. I draft 3rd in the odd rounds and 10th in the even.

1) I am keeping 3 of the following (Dak and Cee Dee feel like no brainers to me and I am leaning Amdrews due to the low cost):

DK Metcalf for a 2nd round pick

Cee Dee for a 5th

Mark Andrews for a 9th

Dak Prescott for a 10th

2)I know I have to make that choice to then make this choice. With my first pick, I assume McCaffrey and Dalvin go 1-2 and a lot of other big runners are kept. Would you go Tyreek Hill, Ezekial Elliott (and owning, for good or bad, all of Dallas) or Jonathan Taylor or Sequan?

As I said before, I appreciate anyone stopping in that chimes in. Have a great day!

I'm not a player of Keeper Leagues that hold round values, so please keep that in mind when reading through my advice.

If you choose to keep D.K. you're going to be waiting until round 3 to fill your starting RB positions and I assume many will be kept or taken before the 3rd. I'm not even sure what would be there at 2.10, but you lose the possibility to get one if there.

With that said, I'd lean toward Andrews as well. You pick up your RB in the 1st see what falls to you in the 2nd and make a decision on RB/WR then.

For you 2nd question, I think it is goes to what you feel comfortable with and the risk you feel is there with DAL. I think Zeke has a bounce back year. Depending on when you need to make the choice you find out how the Indy injuries progress and decide where you want to put your risk. There could be additional options there depending on what everyone else declares as a keeper.

Thank you a ton for sharing your insights! Your thinking on DK's cost and Zeke's potential mirror where I am leaning. Many thanks!!!

I typically keep the best players in a keeper league with that few keepers because it is essentially a redraft.  However, DK is likely to be there in the second round (or someone you like better) and not keeping him gives you the flexibility to make that choice based on what is available.

I think Zeke is the best of those you listed for your first pick by quite a bit but I wouldn't like having three Cowboys.  Seems very hit or miss.  But I have Zeke higher than those other guys by quite a bit so I probably take him anyway.

Gally, thanks a ton for your advice as well. I think Metcalf is likely there and even possibly my pick there but you keyed in on something I tend to like (and maybe I overvalue) which is flexibility early in the draft which is why I hesitate to spend a 2nd round as a keeper. Thank you so much.

And yes, 3 Cowboys worry me, especially because as I've been running through a variety of mocks, I also end up looking at Amari in the 3rd which means I could potentially have Dak, Zeke, Cee Dee and Amari which is VERY boom or bust.

I definitely would stay away from Cooper.  I am not a fan anyway but if you already have Zeke and Lamb there is absolutely no need to get Cooper.  There are lots of equal to better options available in that area to stay away from Cooper.

So I am in the minority here, but let me give you a few things to ponder.....

If you were to keep DK, what would be the cost to keep him next year....

Personally, I do not see DK being there at your 2.10 pick. In re-draft, DK is the 6th ranking WR and in dynasty, he is the 4th.  Ranking players in keepr leagues is unique, because a player can be dropped and redrafted or kept like if he was a dynasty player.  So when it comes to keepers, I first try to determine how long I would want to keep that player. If I see them on my roster for years, then I use dynasty rankings, but if I see them as someone that I just need for the year, I would look at re-draft rankings.

With that being said, I would much rather have DK on my team than Andrews.  Yes Andrews is cheaper, but with DK you know he will be on your team for years and he is the #1 receiving option in Seatle, so his contributions will be more consistent.  There is no doubt that WRs have the biggest depth, but how many do you need to start and how many will be in your flex position.  Then think about how many WRs are being kept and from the remaining ones available, how many of them will out produce DK.

Let's assume each team keeps just 1 WR, that's 12 WRs gone and 21 picks before your 2.10 pick (assuming 12 team league), lets assume 8 more WRs will go in those 21 picks, that means you would  be looking at someone like Higgins, D.Johnson or Thielen (assuming none of them are kept). The only one of these 3 projected to top 1,000 yards is Higgins.  Yet DK is projected at 91 catches, 1400 yrds and 10 TDs.

I think going with a RB in your first round and having DK and CeeDee would be a great starting point and you could pick up your RB2 with your 3.3.

Andrews is projected to have 60 catches and about 800 yrds...you can find the same production in the 9th rd with WRs like Landry, O'dell, Jeudy, Fuller or Marvin Jones...
