Keeper Advice Needed (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, need help deciding my final 3 keepers. We keep 15 guys each season, so it amounts to more of a dynasty than a keeper, but I digress. Here's my list so far...I have 12 locks.

C-Soto

1B-M. Cabrera

2B-Pedroia

3B-Zimmerman

OF-D. Young, Pagan

SP-Lester, Greinke, Billingsley, Marcum, Danks

RP-Street

Here are the other candidates for the final 3 spots.

Beltran

D. Ortiz

Huff

Aviles

Venters

edit -- forgot about Lind

Our categories are a fairly complex 7x7 setup. On the Pitching side, we use WIN%, SV, ERA, WHIP, K/BB, QS and K's. Hitting-wise, we use R, HR, RBI, AVG, OBP, SLG, Net SB. I am picking 13th, as I finished in second in 2010. Do I keep the all three older vets and take my chances that I can get a solid SS and more saves in the draft portion?

The only thing I know for sure is that I'd keep Lind. I wouldn't be very excited about him, but all of your options are relatively low-upside and risky plays. Lind probably falls in that category too, but at least he's still young enough to still possibly, maybe have some kind of upside.

None of the options are attractive. I'll take young ugly over old ugly.

After that, I think take Ortiz and Huff. Both should do something to help out.

I'd lean more towards Huff, since he wouldn't clog up the DH spot.

Beltran will hurt your average, doesn't have any speed left, and plays in a power-sapping park. I'm not sure what there is to hope for from him, even if by some chance he were to ever get and stay healthy.

If you are really worried the MI pool, maybe Aviles. He can get you double-digit HRs/SBs without hurting your AVG. There's value in that. Is he SS eligible in your league?

I'd either go:

Lind, Huff, Ortiz or Lind, Huff, Aviles

(I would never, in a million years, keep a RP, though Venters is filthy)

Thanks for the reply.Yes, Aviles is 2B/SS eligible in my Yahoo league. I see MA's value like you do, and in most leagues Shortstops are going to be hoarded due to scarcity.

I have asked elsewhere and everyone agrees on Lind. I think this is between Ortiz & Huff. Huff is a year younger, and has more roster flexibility. Yet Ortiz seems to be more consistent year-to-year. I'm kind of trying to predict who is more likely to crash this season.
