Keeper Dilemma - Keep Odell @ $97? Trade Coleman for Crabtree? WHIR (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys, I'm in a very competitive 14 team 0.5 PPR keeper league with a $300 salary cap. We keep 6 players at the salary they were auctioned at (3 years maximum). The bolded players below are the guys I plan on keeping (salaries in brackets).

Here are my questions:

1. I've been offered Crabtree ($14) for Tevin Coleman ($4). Do I pull the trigger on this? He said he'd also be willing to throw in Rudolph ($1) for Eifert ($10) to even out the costs.

2. Is keeping OBJ a must? If I threw him back in the auction, I might be able to get him for cheaper - but there are teams with a lot more salary space to play with than me, so I'd be risking losing him. It's not like Fitz and Kelley are super attractive secondary options for me.

3. A league mate suggested swapping OBJ ($97) for Zeke Elliot ($80) - bad idea?

Current Keepers ($202 total salary)

Odell Beckham (97)
Leveon Bell (56)
Melvin Gordon (20)
Jameis Winston (15)
Tyler Eifert (10)
Tevin Coleman (4)

Other options - Fitzgerald ($21), Rob Kelley ($12) Denver DST ($8)

It's really hard to answer these questions without more info on your keeper rules.

First, what year is each of your keepers.  Can you keep them 3 MORE years, or is it 3 years total?  If you acquire a player in a deal, can you keep that player for 3 years?

Hard to quantify a Crabtree for Coleman deal without knowing that, or whether you keep OBJ or deal OBJ for Elliott.

Thanks for the reply. Last year was the first year of this league, so all keepers in question can be kept for 3 MORE years.

Here's my take:

1)  I would do this for the Rudolph/Eifert swap.  I think those guys are going to be pretty equivalent this year, and Rudolph may come out ahead.  Rudolph's only problem over the years has been consistency, and I think a second year with Sam Bradford bodes well for him.  Bradford seems to trust him as a safety valve.  This also bolsters your WR corps - you're already strong at RB with Gordon and Bell, this gives you Beckham and Crabtree which is a pretty solid WR1/WR2.

2) I'd keep OBJ - you'd hate to get in a bidding war trying to get him back and overpay.  Frankly the five guys you've got (either with or without the Crabtree trade) make a pretty solid line-up for 2/3 of your auction budget.  If I could get that team for 2/3's of my auction budget right now, I'd take that every day and twice on Sunday.

3)  I would NOT make the Zeke trade, not with his suspension and having Bell on my roster.  Stick with the guy who's going to get to play every game this year.

OK, now I can reply,

Crabtree and Rudolf for Eifert and Coleman......yes I would do that deal, even though there is a small chance Coleman becomes the guy on another team, now that Freeman is locked up long term.  Coleman's future isn't with ATL.  Crabtree helps you now and that's what matters.

Keep OBJ....since you can keep him 3 years, you can't risk the bidding getting out of hand if you throw him back.  $97 in a $300 cap league with 14 teams is an OK deal.

Given that you can keep OBJ for 3 years, no way you trade him for Elliott, even if Elliott isn't suspended.  OBJ has a better chance of delivering elite value for 3 years vs Elliott.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

UPDATE: The Crabtree/Rudolph for Coleman/Eifert deal was pulled, but he said he'd still do Crabtree for my Coleman straight up.

If I did that deal, I'd have $88 to spend on 9 players in the draft - that would be one flex spot, a kicker, defense, and then 6 bench players.

I still like that Crabtree deal. And you're smart to hang onto OBJ.

When you say a 3 year keeper limit, does the clock reset if a player is acquired by trade?

Good luck.  Please see mine: https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/topic/758120-who-to-keep-involves-gurley-cooper-m-thomas/

Agree with above... get Crabtree. Keep obj and pass on zeke...simple 'nuff.

Good luck! Let us know if it goes through!

I still would do Crabtree for Coleman, because Crabtree helps you more now than does Coleman.  It's worth the extra $10.

Thanks guys. I pulled the trigger on the deal. Keepers are now locked in as:

Odell Beckham (97)
Le’veon Bell (56)
Melvin Gordon (20)
Jameis Winston (15)
Michael Crabtree (14)
Tyler Eifert (10)
