Keeper League Selection Deadlines... (1 Viewer)

Our 12 team PPR league is converting to a keep one league this season (yes, I know I was asking for a cluster####). I as commish asked last week each returning owner to declare whether they wanted to keep a player or not, and if so, who they would want to keep. One of the owners (who kept Steven Jackson at the 1.04 position) now is saying he didn't understand the rules, and he would have rather not kept a player. He seems worried that Jackson is "injured" and I told him it is a crock, but I'd put it up to league vote to see if he should be allowed to re-pick at the 1.08 position.

When do you guys in keeper leagues have to declare your keepers? Also, do you have any clause in your bylaws indicating that an owner can select a new keeper or make another pick during the off-season or preseason if the originally selected keeper is injured?

in my league, we declared aug 23, and we draft tonight aug 30. if one of the two keepers gets injured before the draft then that owner can select another keeper.

for the most part, yes. season-ending, career-ending, PUP list, etc. Now in a special circumstance like D Davis (let's assume the team is so bad that he's the best keeper option), then no. Sorry, he's your keeper. Granted as of aug 23, D Davis wasn't playing, so any owner stupid enough to keep D Davis deserves for him to not play. I don't think any owner would keep him in a keep 1 league, I was just trying to give an example.

We designate one week prior to the draft, and if someone gets hurt in the interim, it's their problem.

We allow owners to release a keeper right up until the draft starts if they are injured. They can't replace him, just release him and the injury has to be something serious. We typically draft as close to the season as we can, so that injury needs to have listed as OUT to be removed.

Well, we also let folks trade their keepers right up until the draft starts. The only rule is that you can only trade who you listed and both teams must keep who is traded.

That being said, I would trade for Steven Jackson right now, so you be the judge on my opinion.
