Keeper League Startup - $800 Entry - Top Prize = $5k (1 Viewer)

Hello! I have been a league commissioner for a good decade or longer and have wanted to start a keeper league for at least half of that time, but my current group wants to stick with the re-draft format every year. I think keeper leagues offer the best of both worlds, re-draft and dynasty, but without the risk of orphaned dynasty teams since you get to re-draft most of your roster each year, and thus you never wind up with a completely "dead in the water team" I have always used CBS Sports as my league site, and would plan to do so for this league too (unless someone convinces me otherwise). Also, since none of us know each other yet, I would plan to utilize the league safe site to collect all entries and pay all winnings. Here are the details...lets get this thing going!! (Slow Draft Starts when we are full and paid :)

Roster Size (17+3) = 17 + 3 slots for players on the IR list
Starting Lineup (9) = 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1FLEX (RB,WR,TE), 1K, 1D/ST

Scoring:

Passing - 1 pt for every 20 yards, -1 int, 6 pts for TD, 2 pts for 2 pt conversion
Rushing - 1 pt for every 10 yards, -2 fumble lost, 6 pt TD, 2 pts for conversion
Receiving - 1 pt for every 10 yards, -2 fumble lost, 6 pt TD, 1 pt per reception, 2 pts for conversion
Kicking - 3 pts for every field goal, .1 pt for every yard past 30 on the FG, and 1 pt for the XP
D/ST - 6 pts for TDs, 5 pts for Safety, 1pt/sack, 2pts/int, 2pts/fumble recovery, 8 pts shutout, 6 pts, 1-7 pts allowed, 4 pts 8-12 pts allowed

Waiver wire order each week will be reverse of current standings.

Keeper Policy for Years 2 of the league and beyond - Each team can keep up to 4 players from their end of year rosters for the following year, but in order to keep a player, you must use a draft pick 2 rounds higher than the player was drafted in the previous year to keep that player and you may not keep more than 2 players at a given position (RB,WR,QB,TE). Draft order is also completely random each year.

This will be a 12 team league, with teams randomly put in 3 divisions (each year) and playoffs would be the 3 division winners and then the next 3 highest point totals for weeks 1-13, with the top 2 division winners receiving a bye in week 14. You would play each team in your division twice, and then 7 non-division matchups.

Payouts would be as follows (Total Pool = 800*12 = $9600-$150 site fee = $9,450 payout):

Most Points Scored during Regular season (weeks 1-13) - $350
Division Winners Each Win - $200

League Champion: $5,000
Runner Up: $2,500
3rd Place - $1,000

Given the size of the pot, to avoid any risk of collusion, and since it is a re-draft (minus 4 keepers) I would definitely like to keep this as a no-trade league. I am open to MFL, I have just never used it...I know that CBS has what we need and I now how to setup the league and navigate it...which is probably the same for you on MFL. While CBS is on the pricey side...in this league, we are only talking $12.50 per team with monstrous payouts! If we got enough interest, we can talk more about which host site to use...which is just a means to an end for our fantasy football addictions

Hey jeff! Right now, I am looking at August 28th, but that is still felxible until we have more peeps signed up...because right now...we have only had a few nibbles of interest. The only reason I wanted to do a keeper league was to add a twist to the standard leagues I am a part of...but I did not want to go all the way to a dynasty league, which is really tough to keep together when teams wind up being awful, then you lose owners and the league falls apart. In this format, all players taken in the first two rounds one year are not eligible as keepers the following year given the reason you stated. This also keeps it more interesting and helps mix the teams back up, helping some of those teams that wound up in the tank the first year. This should also help keep people around, instead of bailing on a bad team.....I have not set a deadline yet for payments, but I would probably want it to be near the first week of August, so that if we have anyone that doesn't pay, we can go get replacements....

AND.....if we don't get any interest in the keeper, I would consider changing this format in order to fill it...

are u saying you can not keep the first two rounds of drafted players because they lose 2 rounds value each year? so earliest round player I can keep second year would be 3rd rounder and would have to forfeit first round pick to keep? We call these draft value leagues or antsi sport used to call them hybrid? They are a blast as I have been in many over the years. Example I drafted A. Foster in 20th round his rookie year and still today he is golden keeper value as that hybrid only lose one round of value each year and you can keep up to 9. ( all my many keeper leagues are different.) I would suggest slow draft especially after first year as the commish needs to type in all the keepers ahead of draft time anyway unlike redraft leagues. This would be perfect league for my liking except I HATE B-BIDS!!!!! No way should the first place team have the same chance to get the best waiver each week as the last place team. Call me old time as I drafted JIM Brown in these things long before computers were invented but I absolutely hate B-BIDS. Always have and always will and that holds me back from many leagues like this that is perfectly what I like to play except B-BIDS! The NFL DOES NOT BID AND NEiTHER SHOULD THE FANTASY FOOTBALL WORLD! Could you see seattle outbidding houstons waiver pick? NO WAY!

OK...I like the change of reverse waivers each week instead of blind bidding...will also consider a slow draft....thanks!

ok, not enough interest...gonna delete this league and post

OK...I will keep it out here for a little while longer....

This is gold. It's just out of my price range. In hypothetical land, would keepers and draft picks be available to trade in the offseason??

ok, I will keep asking for interest here...

In this league of 4 keepers, we are not going to allow any trading, since it has a majority of the players being re-drafted every year, including the top 2 rounders every year...also makes it more difficult to manage loss of owners when they have traded away picks and I am trying to recruit new owners...

If this league is on CBS I would def want in..This sounds like an amazing league, I only play through CBS though....Send me an invite rsantos1084@yahoo.com if you are making the league

Unfortunately Im pretty set on only using CBS...it's hard enough for me to keep track of all my teams on just one site, if it is on CBS count me 100% in bc this league sounds great

Happy with CBS, would prefer more money for points winner, because less luck involved, but if we play, will live with it. Cant count the number of times I've had the best team by far and a bad week or a couple of players injured for the week and lost early.

Not real crazy redrafting from bottom up, cause that only helps bad drafters. If you start out with a good team, you never get to pickup anyone good on injuries.

Bigjohn, where do you live?

OK, once we get enough folks, I will nail down the site we are using, and I may also tweak the payouts for more towards points (at least your money back)....re-drafting bottom up...what do you mean...oh, the reverse waivers? we can discuss that more too...that has gone back and forth in the discussions above...

I am in New Mexico! Land of Enchantment baby!

from reading newest ideas this would b perfect bunch for a hi stake DRAFTMASTER. B-BIDS R FRAUD. Draftmaster truly awards the best drafter! MFL BLOWS CBS OFF THE MAP AND DRAFTMASTER WEBSITE IS FREE ON MFL. I am a vet of both! 140 more for the pot. My last concern is would league safe report my 5 grand to IRS? I retired and 5 is right around the limit IRS allows me PER YEAR.. How about HI STAKE DRAFTMASTER 4 GRAND WINNER. 2,600 SECOND, 2 3RD, 1 4TH. SIMPLIFY THINGS is best way to get 12 heads on same page. I been looking for good hi stake draftmaster leagues for years with no luck except them service sites that want 10-15 % off the top

buckeye,

sorry, that is not at all what I was trying to do here...sorry. Good luck finding that type of league....and I don't think leaguesafe reports anything to the IRS...

Maybe you should make the league from now and invite the 5 people so far so we can discuss rules and payouts and everything...I am 100% in and love how this league is shaping up!! I'm hoping we can leave as a redraft as well...if you do decide to make the league and invite the people interested mine is rsantos1084@yahoo.com

ok...I have landed enough other fantasy teams to fill my needs this year...and since there was not a lot of interest in this up to this point...cancelling this league/idea
