Keeper League Strategy (1 Viewer)

The Commish

Footballguy
We just converted out redraft league to a keeper league and I am not sure that some owners quite grasp the concept just yet, but it leaves me in a prediciment.

I have the #1 pick in our upcoming draft. We get to keep 5 players and I am keeping Portis, McGahee, C Williams, Harrison and R Williams. I assumed all the top RBs were going to be kept, but it looks like S Jackson is going to be sitting there. This upcoming year, we are increasing the number of starters in our league from 8-10 and the # of required RB starters from 1-2...with an option of a 3rd as a flex. I had planned on snagging Bush at the beginning, but with Jackson out there, I am having second thoughts.

What would you guys do?? Would you plan for the future or go for the win now. I really think that I can go either way and am thinking I just need to get over myself and make the decision on which way to go. Is there anything I am missing though? Something I may not have thought of yet? This is probably the only round I will be drafting a RB unless one slips and I can't pass him up.

TIA.

I would take Steven Jackson with the first pick without a doubt. He is still very young and the focal point of a new less pass oriented offense. You dont know what Bush is going to do in the saints offense and Steven has proven he can carry the rock.

If I take Jackson, I need to move probably McGahee to help improve my WR corp. This is quickly turning into an AC thread and I don't want it to. I have posed the question there, but was wondering on philosopy.

Is it smarter to add depth to an already deep RB corp, or look to the future and take a risk, knowing that you have a sold RB corp. Truth is, we have no idea what Bush is going to do.

Always smarter to add RB depth. Jackson's football career just just as likely to last as long as Bush's, except Jackson won't be splitting time with $50M RBs for half of it.

Reggie Bush could be the most overhyped player to never record a single NFL carry.

Take Steven Jackson and get ready to cash that champonship check.
