Keith Bulluck and David Thornton out the rest of the year... (1 Viewer)

Watch my feet!
Just heard it on Fisher's press conference. No link yet. Check www.tennessean.com or www.titansonline.com shortly.

Huge. Not that their chances are great to make playoffs...but this hurts badly. Contract year, too.

Bad new for any chance Tennessee had at the playoffs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee linebacker Keith Bulluck has a torn left anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the rest of the season while outside linebacker David Thornton will have season-ending shoulder surgery later this week.

Coach Jeff Fisher announced Monday that test results show Bulluck tore his left ACL in the third quarter of their 27-24 overtime victory over Miami on Sunday in what might have been his final game with the franchise that drafted him 30th overall in 2000. The Titans were placing him on injured reserve Monday, and Bulluck will have surgery within two weeks.

Thornton had been deactivated against Miami as the Titans (7-7) hoped he might return.

Fisher called the losses devastating to the defense.

Man, that is rough news for the Titans. Hate to think of Bulluck gone from Tennessee, but the reality is likely unless he accepts a really cheap deal one-year/two-year deal to stay and rehab (which isn't likely at all). Not that Tennessee had a great chance to beat the Chargers this Friday, but they were certainly able to stay within 10 points of the Bolts with a healthy corps of LBs.

Looks LB is a strong contender for day one of the NFL draft...

I don't see Bulluck leaving or having to accept a small deal. He's invaluable and still one of the better coverage LBers there is. Young is about to take a monstrous paycut(not getting 14 mil) amidst an uncapped year....no way "their boy" leaves. He's not old N crusty yet. They drafted Keglar and McRath. This should be when the GM earns his money. Someone decided Ryan Fowler could be cut loose a year after being a starting LBer.Here's what they have left:56 Allred, Colin MLB 6-1 238 26 2 Baylor $376,72099 Bakhtiari, Eric MLB 6-3 285 25 1 San Diego N/A59 Keglar, Stanford WLB 6-2 240 24 2 Purdue $680,10051 McRath, Gerald SLB 6-3 231 23 R Southern Miss N/AShouldn't Keglar be ready to go? thoughts on these youngin's matt?

I will not be happy if Gates has less than 150 yards on Friday.
They had two pro bowl safeties last season. They should be able to cover a TE decent. They have a gaping hole at CB opposite Finnegan named Nick Harper. Griffin and Hope could help at times limiting opposing QBs from throwing there constantly (although it's gotta be tempting).Fuller is a perfect nickelback that can play S or CB. I would bet he's in the mix here possibly on Gates or playing S while another is. If the Chargers linemen can hit their blocks and get the RB through the DL, Tomlinson and Sproles could run for a zillion yards. The Titans have some excellent young DL but their still amidst their learning curve and can be beat by especially good linemen.I see it as throw at Harper, then run...rinse, repeat.

Fanball reporting that Titans have signed LB Jamie Winborn.

ETA: Also on Rotoworld.

matt?

Keglar sucks and couldn't beat RW to the pylon last week when he had the angle. He won't be a starter come next year. If he is, we are in serious trouble.

just an fyiTitans are favored to beat the Chargers

Titans were already pretty bad vs tight ends so I don't know how much the loss of these two hurts them vs Gates. As far as the run game, SD can't run the ball vs anyone anyway so maybe these injuries don't change the outcome of this game much.

First 5 games they let out a welcome mat for QBs. Last two TEs have done well. Middle 8 games they were very good-one of the best. Seems like every DB and LB has been hurt.Hard to tell which D is playing
