When Rivers comes off the PUP, I assume he will be taking over Thomas Howard's WLB spot and his production. Is he worth an LB3 slot when he comes back?

No guarantee Rivers comes off PUP, Howard is playing well enough that he should be the favorite to hold the base WLB job and Zimmer said before the season began that Howard would have a role in subpackages. Brandon Johnson is still hanging around, too. I think it'll take a strong recovery from Rivers and (probably) a bunch of injuries on the CIN LB depth chart before Rivers earns a major role.

Any more info from the Cincy fans?

Looking more from a Dynasty perspective if he's worth an add for next year. He's getting cut loose in most of my dynasty leagues at this point

The Bengals have been known to move guys around, but as it stands now I don't see anyone prying the job from Howard. In addition, the Bengals will probably play more Nickel once Pacman comes back and there is basically no chance Rivers has a spot there IMO. The 3rd CB spot has quietly been a disaster to this point so I think that is why the Bengals have run more base than they want.

If anything, he might have some luck playing downs 1 and 2 over Lawson, but thats probably not a great fit for his skill set either. Lawson also happened to make one of the biggest plays of the game against Jax.

IOW, he's not worth much to me for fantasy. I will take him back though as a Cincy fan. We've been lucky at avoiding injuries the first 5 weeks, but we are pretty thin outside of the DLine.

I don't think Rivers takes Howards spot. He's playing well and Rivers has always been slightly disappointing for how high he was drafted.

So you guys think they will bring back Howard in 2012?

I'm asking more long-term outlook on Rivers. I realize he's pretty much shot this season.

Howard signed a 2 year contract and has blown away expectations to this point. Howard will be back next year whether Rivers starts somewhere (SAM, different team, etc) or not.
