Kelce vs. Likely: who's going to be better this year? (1 Viewer)

Likely is good. Kelse is elite, he just had a bad game. Likely benefited because KC made it a point to shut Andrews down. Something they have been able to do before. Lamar was still looking Andrews first most of the time he was just blanketed and he moved on to the next read.

Kelce is not elite anymore. Still very good and probably better than Likely.............especially with Pacheco going down. But Kelce is a worry having watched him play so far this year. Yes he had a long play called back due to penalty but he just isn't being used. Not sure if that is a purposeful "saving wear and tear" approach by KC but he is a second thought so far this year.

I am worried about him moving forward in regards to him being an every week TE1 type player. He seems to have his utilization being dropped to make him closer to TE10 (or worse) than TE1.

Kelse will be fine, I’m not worried about it. If I had him I’d play him over almost everyone weekly. I do think they are intentionally giving Rice part of his role to keep him healthy.

Either way the point was trading Likely for Kelse and I still don’t think that’s a good idea. If Andrews gets hurt we can rethink it but until then Kelse > Likely.

I agree that I wouldn't trade Likely for Kelce in a redraft at the moment however offloading volume from Kelce is a bad direction in redraft. It makes Kelce one of the 7-12 group of TE's for FF purposes and makes Likely a lot closer to Kelce than perception may be (even with Andrews healthy).

He is closer because of Kelse not because of him. Going into the season I was hoping Baltimore would treat Likely more as a WR and he could have a huge year but they really are not. Because of that as long as Andrews is playing he is still just a coin flip week to week.

Sure, but it doesn't make the statement any less relevant.
Never said it did and never said Likely wasn’t good. Kelse is the TE on one of the best offenses in the league with proven value. He plays the majority of the snaps and runs pretty much all the TE routes. He is a good play. Unless they are lying he is healthy and as good as he should be.

Likely is not a safe play unless Andrews isn’t playing or they are playing KC. That’s all.

I guess we disagree here. I think Likely is a "safe play" considering the TE landscape and what it takes to be in the top 10 any given week.

Again you are thinking only Likely. The question is who will have a better year Likely for Kelse. I have zero problem playing Likely, Heck with Ferguson’s injury I would have loved to play Likely. He’s a TE that has shown there is a chance for a huge week. If I had a chance to have him or Kelse (and Andrews is healthy) I easily choose Kelse right now.
