Kenny Britt Arrested (1 Viewer)

someone in my league had an offer to trade him to me earlier today that was still pending until i rejected 2 minutes ago (before i even saw this)... glad I didn't accept it since I did like him despite not having a QB

See?! THAT'S why I downgraded Kenny Britt... the kid just doesn't have that break away speed!

caught by a donut dunker

I traded him away when he was in the doghouse at the start of last season for far less than he was worth in one league. Also traded him in another for a more reasonable price just before he went off against the Eagles. Reading this I'm v.glad I got rid of him.

OMG that is incredible, tell us more ASAP!!

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt's off-season workout includes trying to outrun the law -- at least according to officers who busted him in New Jersey after a "COPS" style chase..

.

Police in Bayonne, NJ tell TMZ they attempted to pull over Kenny -- a former 1st round pick and Rutgers star -- for speeding around 4:30PM on Tuesday, but he allegedly hit the gas and kicked off the chase..

Bayonne PD says after a few miles, Kenny just stopped and he and his passenger attempted to walk away from the car. During questioning, officers say the passenger tried to bolt on foot -- FAIL. Officers arrested him for alleged possession of marijuana and resisting arrest..

Kenny was arrested and booked for 2nd degree eluding and obstruction -- cops say he lied about owning and driving the car ... a 2010 navy blue Porsche Panamera S which was impounded..

Britt was also arrested in January 2010 -- again in NJ -- for outstanding traffic warrants..

This is the first I have seen marijuana added to the story....

Edited to add...I just read on ESPN it was his passenger who had the marijuana...I'm sure he doesn't share his stash with Kenny though

I bet he couldn't pass a drug test right now.

Just a kid out havin' some fun, buy with confidence!

Anyways, saw an interesting show about high school football last night (Frontline). In some ways it's surprising these things don't happen a lot more than they do. Well, actually they probably do but they're given every break and protected as much as possible. It's an inevitable result of the big business that is football: basically clueless, unformed, immature kids riding around in Porsches with 100K in jewelry on them. It's OK as long as they can go up and get that pigskin!

2 or 4 game suspension coming Im sure.
How? He's not currently in the league. I don't see how Goodell could do anything about this. I'd be more worried about the actual jail time. What an idiot.
 Friendly bet he gets suspended because of this? He is most certainly "in the league".
Would love to. He may try but I can't see the player's union letting that one fly. With the lockout, I don't see how they could possibly enforce a "personal conduct violation". So if there's no football in 2011, are you suggesting that he would then be suspended in 2012 for what he did now while there's no football?

What an idiot.
Goodell had previously announced that personal conduct punishments will be enforced despite the status of the CBA. Fox Sports link

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told FOXSports.com Thursday the league plans to enforce its personal conduct policy even with players prohibited from reporting to team headquarters. Enacted by the league in 2007, the policy subjects players to fines and possible suspension at the discretion of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

"While players won't be able to get the benefit of our evaluation and counseling program during the work stoppage, the personal conduct of players and employees is an integrity-of-the-game issue," McCarthy wrote in an e-mail. "Any misconduct that is detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the NFL will certainly be addressed when play resumes."

Such enforcement will be done despite the NFL and NFLPA still not having agreed upon a collective bargaining agreement. Asked for comment, NFLPA executive George Atallah told FOXSports.com, "The best amendment the NFL and the owners can make to any policy at this point is to end the lockout."

I'm reading a completely different story elsewhere. Not that it's good either, but not as bad as the original:

Britt arrested

Add Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt to the list of NFL players to get arrested since the lockout.

According to Jay Glazer and Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, Britt was arrested on Tuesday after a car chase in his his hometown of Bayonne, N.J.

Britt was reportedly charged with eluding an officer, lying to an officer hindering apprehension, and obstructing government function:

According to a police report, the incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when Britt was clocked driving his blue Porsche at 71 mph in a 50-mph zone. When an officer attempted to enter the roadway to stop the vehicle, the Porsche accelerated and began weaving in and out of highway traffic. The Porsche then exited the highway and was spotted on a local street with Britt and Lord walking away from the vehicle.

Yep, just read the same thing.I wonder how that's gonna fly but it seems they have every intention of trying.

Yes thats whaat Im suggesting. One I suspect if mediation doesnt work, the judge rules that the lockout is unjust and then we hav a season anyway (after appeals etc.)

In my mind, there's a big difference with getting pulled over for speeding and getting pulled over for speeding after being chased down the road two miles and getting out of the car claiming the car isn't your's (not to mention the weed). There's having fun and serial stupidity/disregard for the law.

somebody help me with this concept because i dont drink/drive or do or possess drugs/drive

why in the $#@& do you speed in those situations?

is it the loss of inhibitions? loss of brain cell firing?

you see THIS is why Wunderlic scoring is important in drafting, i'm betting KBritt and Pacman and VYoung's combined < 30

as i re-read my post, i wasnt asking for drunk/stoned drivers opinions even though that was how it sounded LOLwas asking for the scientific reasons behind criminals in attention-grabbing vehicles in possession of illegal paraphrenalia ALWAYS seem to get caught with what starts out as SPEEDING

Doubt there's any scientific facts around this. I think you hear about them because they were caught. Far more people drive around drunk or with drugs in their car and don't get pulled over than do. Speeding is the most common thing people are pulled over for so it's no surprise that it's the most common reason people with other illegal things going on are pulled over. As far as why they still speed when they have other stuff on them, just more of the "It won't happen to me." thinking. Same reason a person would possibly risk millions of dollars by having drugs on them.

In college I did a research paper comparing sober drivers to drunk drivers and to stoned drivers. While drunk drivers performed more poorly in every aspect of driving as compared to sober drivers, the only tangible difference between sober drivers and stoned drivers was that stoned drivers were significantly more likely to speed. (Outside of speeding sober and stoned drivers performed the same while driving.)

:goodposting: usually the reason you keep going is so that you can ditch the drugs....these guys didn't even do that right....fanatsy-wise this shouldn't be too much of a hit to most teams....if you were counting on Britt as a major piece of your WR puzzle, you might have been in a little trouble anyway....I see some of the things other people see and can see how some may think he was ready to turn the corner as a #1 WR but last year 1/3rd of his TD's came in one game, and almost 1/3rd of his total yards came in that same game (Eagles)....he is not a WR1 to bulid around IMO....

You know what I love? All the pundits saying that Britt is "just a directionless 22 year old with no one to help him get through the lockout". As if it is normal for a 22 year to run from the law with weed in the backseat. Does Britt really need someone to tell him not to do drugs and not run from the police? Give me a break. Coincidence that Britt seems to regularly be finding himself within earshot of the law? I think not.

Britt and a gigantic minority of NFL players should be thanking their lucky stars that there are people in this world willing to risk $800 million dollars on an NFL franchise in order to give them a job. Without it, they would be dead or in jail. Their audacity is sickening.

For those wondering if Britt is going to get jail time. Never in a million years. Now if you did what he did, you can bet your last dollar you would find yourself in the slammer. But Britt will get fined, and a slap on the wrist. Goddell will give him a 4 game suspension which will be reduced to 2 games after an appeal. What a joke.

How did you research this? Just a questionnaire? I wouldn't think any objective test could be done.

Pray he doesn't get suspended, which is extremely likely to happen for 4 to 6 games, and once he returns and has a big game sell high immediately. He will burn you in the future. The guy has no respect for the game of football and will undoubtedly screw up somehow in the future.

You almost sound surprised with this news, did you think Britt was spending the offseason at church camp? Brandon Marshall was arrested many more times for worse crimes in the middle of an amazing 3 year run statistically. Why do you think this is going to hurt Britt?

He drove around drunk and stoned and with his friends while they were drunk and stoned - many college kids do this kind of research.

Surprised? Not at all. I don't own Britt in any leagues because of his off the field issues. Every couple of years you can expect a suspension for something stupid he does. The talent is there but the intelligence is not. He averages something like 17 ppg but what good is that if he isn't on the field to get your team to the fantasy playoffs or there for you in the fantasy playoffs? You know what I hear every year? "Britt is young and hopefully he'll grow and mature into a responsible person". I heard that last year and then I just heard it again this time. surprise surprise...

Im more concerned with Britts work ethic than his trouble with police. I know they kind of go hand in hand, but how many young players who get in trouble dont eventually stop getting into trouble? If Pacman Jones, Michael Vick, and Donte Stallworth can still get a job in the NFL, i feel pretty good about Britts long term outlook.

No, I looked at several studies and based my paper off of their results. The main study I used had 3 test groups: 1 was sober, 1 was legally drunk, 1 was high. Each group went through the same battery of driving tests and were judged on their performance in different categories (i.e. driving under the speed limit, staying in your lane, etc.).

and I think this average is greatly inflated by his monster game against the Eagles....I could be wrong and I know we aren't supposed to do the "if you take this game out of his stats" thing....but holy cow as I mentioned ealrlier, almost 1/3rd of his entire production (TD's/yards) last year came in one game......

Im not sure about everyone else, but im not high on Britt because of his numbers last season, but the talent he displayed while doing it. Alot of people have Dez Bryant as a top 5 WR, and look at his numbers last season minus his best game. What i like to see from young players like Britt or Bryant is the ability to dominate a game, even if they are not doing it consistently yet.

Plus, In the other 9 games Britt played the entire game he had 550 yards and 6 TD's. That prorates to 1000 yards and 11 TD's...and again, thats taking away his big game entirely.

Interesting, I'll have to do some searching. I would think the knowledge of knowing your being observed would corrupt the results. At least for relating them to the real world. I'll have to read before judging though.

He kind of sounds like Chris Henry to me. How did that turn out. I would not touch the guy

I'm not saying your wrong, and always enjoy your insight on players, but what are you referring to here about Marshall?! I know he's not an alter boy or anything, but I wouldn't consider anything he's done off the field (while in the NFL) to be as bad as Britt's latest transgressions. Much of what's happened has been dropped in court, and he's missed like 1-2 games due to suspension over his 5 year (4 productive year) career? That's not bad at all. Britt will likely have 2-3 times as many games suspended from this alone.-Concerned Brandon Marshall owner
