Kenny McKinley (1 Viewer)

I have seen a ton in here already on a possible Marshall trade etc. Thought it would be interesting to get everyones opinion on Kenny McKinely? FBGs talks highly of him on his page:

If Marshall does get traded, or if he is gone after this year(looking highly possible) than is this the possible replacement? He broke most of Sterling Sharpes rec records at SC. He should see some time in the slot? And more than that if/when marshall is gone.

Any input on this guy?

I wouldn't use the term stud, but he definitely becomes an interesting value play. I don't like his lack of toughness but he's exactly the type of WR I'd want to compliment my team's #1. As long as Denver's defense is as bad as last year and as bad as I expect it to be in the near term he may have some WR3 value if he's able to get the #2 job if Marshall's dealt. Those are a lot of 'if's' though.

I had a draft immediately after the NFL draft and was desperately trying to trade for last round picks to get Deon Butler, McKinley, and James Casey, our league lets you keep drafted players for two years without counting against roster limits, but I could only get one pick and took Butler with that pick.

McKinley performed very well here at South Carolina despite having terrible quarterbacks. Started since halfway through his freshman year and has always been clutch for the team. He was a high school quarterback and has improved his hands and route running drastically through his college career. He fought injuries through a lot of this last season which kept his numbers and probably draft position down.Certainly is a classy guy and a hard worker. Steve Spurrier has called him the best WR he has ever coached, so that has to count for something. If given a chance to play I have little doubt he will produce.

I see him as a sleeper - little name recognication, possible starting situation due to other influences, decent college numbers.

I picked him up to hold on as a possible value next year (Rookie Taxi squad).

Ok, new coaching staff in Denver will not tolerate the issues B Marshall is bringing to the table. They already got bad PR with the Cutler situation. I don't see B Marshall in Denver next year.

Opportunity is very good for McKinley. He put up good numbers with a horrible QB rotation (54-642-4 TD). He had Jared Cook TE (37-573-3) as the 2nd option. McKinley had a better 2007 season (77-968-9), but was injured early in 2008 and missed 3 games. Pro-rate his #'s to a whole season ==> 78-927-6 (much more respectable given he had Chris Smelley throwing to him).

Some South Carolina Stats for him: http://southcarolina.rivals.com/cviewplayer.asp?Player=52967

Thanks fellas! Great input.

I think maybe anotehr good point to is that he is the only WR Den drafted this year knowing the Marshall history and also Stokely getting older(injuries etc)? So maybe we have something here? Dynasty definately!! Redraft not until next year?

Lloyd sucksJackson - never wasStokely - over the hillGaffney - probably penciled in to be the #2 if Marshall's dealt and a WR is not returnedIf McKinney can't beat these guys out then he probably isn't going to be any good and you don't want much to do with him anyway, I'd push him to a guy to monitor but won't roster and then possibly re-add him at season's end (if he's still available) and see how he does in his 2nd camp. If he does something, he stays, if he doesn't he's an easy cut preseason 010. His game doesn't need much polish, so if he's going to do something in the league I'd expect it by year 2.

i think it's far too early to call Jackson a never was. Been plenty of WR's that don't blossom until their 4th, 5th, 6th season. Donald Driver comes to mind. Jackson should already know some of the playbook as well

I drafted McKinley primarily because I didn't expect Marshall to get re-signed by Denver next year. I don't have a really strong gut feeling about him, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Broncos knew Marshall's days were numbered and thought McKinley could be a #2.
