Kenny Watson (1 Viewer)

Any updates on the Rudi injury and his status for this weekend?

If Watson gets the start I think he could have a decent game.

I am considering benching Portis for Watson if Watson is the main man again this week.
Against Pitt? The team that has allowed 100 yards to a RB once in the last 50 something games. The last guy to do it was Edge with the Colts. A team that this year is 3rd against the run only allowing 75 yards per game and a single TD all season? You expect Watson to have a good game against the Steelers? The RB's they have faced this season: A healthy Jamal Lewis week 1, Lynch week 2, Gore week 3, Edge week 4, Alexander week 5, bye week 6 and Henry week 7. Those aren't Tatum Bell, Brandon Jackson, Ced Benson, or Lendale White. Most of those former probowl backs.
Totally agree - but I am talking about starting him over Portis. The Redskins will be in NE and figure to fall way behind early. Plus the offensive line in Washington is horrible so even if they do keep it close - I can't imagine it will be because Portis is grinding it out. I expect once the Redksins fall behind it will be Betts in there catching the ball out of the backfield. The reason why I say I liked Watson as a sneaky play is because he is hot right now and he is a threat to catch the ball too. I agree - he isn't going to score 33 points against - but 100 total yards 60 rushing and 40 receiving is not out completely out of question.

As for your weekly break down of who they have stopped - lots of impressive names - but the reality is that none of those names scare me from a fantasy perspective - maybe 3 years ago....

Plus when you look a little closer at each one of those games - it seems like there is a reasonable explaination to help explain the poor RB performance.

Week 1 - Who was QB for Cleveland? Where is he now? They played and looked like what many expected to be a 2-3 win team.

Week 2 - Lynch - he had 81 total yards - Not bad for what IS probably one of the bottom teams in the league.

Week 3 - Gore - 49ers have been aweful. Stopping the 49ers is not newsworthy.

Week 4 - Edge - nice story this year. He had 77 yards and a TD. Not bad.

Week 5 - Alexander - I think everyone can agree he is done. It isn't news when you stop Alexander now.

Week 7 - Henry - Probably the most legit guy to stop.

My thinking is that Watson is involved in both the rushing and passing game. He may not get the yards on the ground - but he can get some in the air too.

Are you suggesting that there aren't committees out there? People "throw around these letters" to describe RB situations around the league, and there are a lot more of these than before.
Not really. There are only five true RBBC teams this season: Minnesota

Green Bay

Dallas

Jacksonville

Tennessee

You could probably add New England to that list but that's more a product of injury than anything else. Whenever a backup has a good game we hear how the team is going to go to a RBBC situation immediately when the reality is that doesn't happen all that often. As I posted before, Lewis has gone to a RBBC in Cincinnati if his starter was injured and unable to get to full health. But whenever Rudi has been healthy he's clearly been the guy in the backfield so if he can return to full health (and that's the huge x factor here as I said before) there's probably a greater chance of him regaining his workhorse role than there is of this becoming a RBBC situation.
New EnglandThe now Miami backfield

Carolina

Mabey Houston

I included New England due to injury. There's nothing at this time to indicate Miami will be a RBBC situation. All of the info we've gotten so far points to Chatman being the clear starter. Carolina is at times a RBBC but many other weeks it's all Foster and Williams doesn't get much action but I would say they're close. Houston is definitely not a RBBC situation. Green is the clear starter. Dayne got one touch last week, for example.
