Kentucky Derby 2015 PreSale...What am I looking at per ticket... (1 Viewer)

I just received an email that I will be allowed to purchase up to 6 tickets for the 2015 Derby prior to them going on sale to the public. The kicker is I am paying a 20% premium per ticket package (you have to buy both for the Oaks and Derby). I know this place has a few people who frequent the Derby. Wondering what I would be looking to shell out if I buy tickets in Section 226 - 228, or the Six Seat package in 111/212 or Section 325.

  • Clubhouse seating in Section 110 with stadium-style, flip-up seats. Ticket price includes all-day hospitality (food, non-alcoholic, and alcoholic beverages) and exclusive access to section 110 beer garden.
  • Six-seat boxes in Sections 111 and 212 packaged with one (1) valet parking pass.
  • Six-seat boxes in Section 312 packaged with hospitality (food and alcoholic beverages) in the Hospitality Lounge.
  • Six-seat boxes in the Grandstand in Section 325 packaged with six Taste of Derby tickets, (event to be held on Thursday, April 30).
  • Stadium style, flip-up seating sections 226-228, located in the new Grandstand Terrace with renovated concession stands, a new food plaza, restrooms and wagering locations, packaged with a Taste of Derby ticket, (event to be held on Thursday, April 30).
  • Traditional bleacher seating in Sections 122-128 and Sections 222- 225, packaged with a $25 gift card.

I go every year. Best seats are sect 317-318 and face (IIRC) is around $400/seat. Get as close to there as you can.

We bought 200 levels a few years back and it was roughly $300/ticket IIRC

we were able to flip some for profit but friends have said it was harder last few years and even took a loss

My advice is to wait and look for deals at stubhub or even scalp day of (although you could pay a premium if weather is nice)

If you're definitely going I'd suggest only purchasing what you need and not expect to make money on extras. It also sucks prepaying in November for an event in May
