Kerney - tricep injury (1 Viewer)

I didn't see the game, but from what I've read, he did not return yesterday. Any homers have early news on how bad the injury is, and how long it may keep him out?

Right triceps strain. It doesn't sound serious, but it must be messed up to keep him out of a game. I cannot find any fresh news.

After sounding despondent on Sunday, Kerney displayed a more positive demeanor a day later. There was no tear in the triceps, so he'll spend the week trying to strengthen it again so he can play against Tampa Bay, the second of three straight NFC South teams the Falcons will face to begin the season.

"I definitely think I'll be able to go," he said. "I woke up feeling light years better than yesterday."

While Abraham wasn't available for comment, Kerney said his fellow defensive end also appeared to be doing better.

"I expect Abe to go," Kerney said. "He's in the same situation I am. He's feeling light years better than he was."

Update - Kerney is listed as probable but did not practice Thursday, according to the Tampa Tribune.
"(KFFL) Atlanta Falcons DL Patrick Kerney (triceps) will play in the team's Week 2 game, but it is not known if he will start at left defensive end or right defensive end. DL Chauncey Davis might have an easier matchup against Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Kenyatta Walker during the game"Hmm.. It appears Kerney will be starting, can't decide whether to put him or Bert Berry in my line-up. Berry is going up against Walter Jones, which is scary after he put up a goose egg against Jonas Jennings last week
