Kerry Rhodes - good to go? (1 Viewer)

Rhodes is out on the waiver wire as the #1 DB. I know nothing about this guy and his numbers are very impressive thus far. Obviously, his production will fall off a bit from the level he's been playing at, but will he be a viable starter (shallow IDP league) from here on out?

Scoring:

1 pt tackle

.5 pt assist

4 pts Int

4 pts sack

2 pts FF

4 pts recovered fumble

6 pts TD

1 pt every 25 yards int/fumble recovery

Pick him up now! He is the undisputed leader in the secondary and has improved week after week since he started as a rookie last year. I have him on every league I could get him on. He is my #1 starter in all those leagues.

In the 2005 preseason games, he had a sack or int. in all 5 games, but only had 1 of each in the regular season. He did have plenty of tackles and is ahead of that pace this season.

My IDP redraft league doesn't allow trades, (don't ask, it's not even worth explaining, and yes, it's a stupid rule).

So there I am on draft day casually waiting on DB's and collecting WR's instead. Kerry Rhodes was sitting there circa round 24 so I thought, I've gotta grab him. Enough being cute here. Instead the perennial cellar dwellar took him that round! I couldn't believe it. This is the kind of guy who takes Lawyer Milloy in the 10th round and here he is picking my pocket on my late round DB jewel. Worse still, I can't even trade for him. :wall: I thought if Rhodes got off to a slow start he might drop him. So much for that.

Back on topic, pick him up immediately.

I'm trying to decide whether to put my waiver claim in for Rhodes or for Braylon Edwards, but I'm heavily leaning towards Rhodes right now.

If you want to argue that he's going to get 16 sacks, 5 INTs and 16 forced fumbles, then I guess you could argue that his production will stay at it's current level. That's really why I initially posed the question, there's always someone that blows up for a week or two and then disappears.

i guess my point was to say there is no way in heck this guy is a "flash in the pan" where he will become a 5 tackle 1 assist guy every week. With Vilma struggling through the 3-4.....I suspect that Rhodes stat line of 8 tackles 3 Assists (and a sack or an interception at least everyother week) will be the norm and not the exception.

Well last year he had 86 solo's, 20 assists, 1 FF, 1 int, 1 sack, 7PD and he was a rookie! I don't believe he'll keep up the pace of the big plays - but playing closer to the LOS he will continue to get even better with tackles and assists and get his fair share of big plays. IMHO

Why can't I be in a league where Kerry Rhodes is on the waiver wire going into week 4?
I either drafted him or traded for him in my leagues. He was never on a waiver wire. But I have now managed to get him my 5 teams! 3 drafts, 2 trades.

He's listed as Questionable this week. Did he practice?
He missed some practice.
S Kerry Rhodes was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for a pair of strip-sacks against the Bills ... DBs Barrett, Rhodes and Derrick Strait, WRs Coles and Tim Dwight were listed as questionable and did not fully participate in practice.

Don't sweat it.... all the quotes from him in the NY papers clearly indicate he will start.... he talked about how being defensive player of the week means nothing if you lose.... he'll play, and start him without any trepidation.

yeah sure thanks, that's just great, my opponent just added rhodes to his starters...

What happens if he doesn't? :bag: I'd have to say :bye: forever! I'm starting him in two leagues... this kid isn't going to sit. I'm going to start Coles in one league as well... at home game against the Colts, with a (albeit a long shot) at taking sole possession of 1st place in the AFC East? Kendall I believe will play as well. As a Jets fan, I'm really looking forward to this game. I don't think they will win, but I do think they have a shot at an upset.

thanks for the info guys. I was looking @ his stats thus far and considering him, but couldn't pull the trigger with the injury ?s.

I also had him on the WW, but our league only starts 2 IDP'ers and most teams only carry 3. Decided to cut A Pierce - a nice LB, but doesn't see much blitzing (sacks) or ints (where the real points are)

Now I just need to sit R Lewis or Ad Thomas (both Ravens LBs) to get him some PT.

I am gonna play it safe and leave him on bench.

Roy Williams up against Vince Young--may be in line for a rookie mistake and get 3rd pick of year.

Nick Collins against Philly-- Should get a good handful of tackles.

If you have better options I would not take a chance on Rhodes even though he is tearing it up.

rhodes can sack manning..... and get tackles.... This guy has been playing with minor injuries all year.. You can sit him down

At the risk of being accused a softie and answering the question here -- I'd play Rhodes if he's active -- he is Rodney Harrison. But, please, in the future, keep these injury threads free of advice requests and post in the appropriate thread.

LOL - I didn't expect him to be pinned. Completely whiffed that.

At least he's important enough to be pinned...

He's active. Could be wrong, but I don't think there's much risk in starting him.

Probably a moot point since he's active this week, but the Jets would probably give Derrick Strait even more snaps and move Eric Coleman up to the line. May see Eric Smith on the field too.
Is Rhodes playing? He has 0 stats at halftime.
