Kevan Barlow (1 Viewer)

While Barlow may not be a as good as LT, he is not far off! His size speed ratio, and his ability to catch the ball, make him a top 10 fantasy back. He will also be running on fresh legs this season! The 49ers may have lost some of their offensive weapons, but that just means they will lean on Barlow even more. Here is my top 10 RB list heading into next year.1.LT2.McAllister3.Portis4.Lewis5.Green6.Holmes7.Barlow8.Williams9.Taylor10.Alexander

I think the player Barlow best compares to is Fred Taylor. Both are bigger backs with surprising burst and quickness. Barlow doesn't quite have Fred's breakway speed, but other than that they are pretty similar.

If you put them both on the same NFL team, who is going to be the starting RB?LT every time.People who try to compare the ability and talent level of these two either are way too high on Barlow or just not appreciative of how good LT2 is.LT2 may have had more opportunity, but his supporting cast has been miserable. He's probably done more with less than any RB since Barry Sanders, and even Sanders had a better offensive line to work with and Herman Moore at WR.LT2 is a hall of fame RB and the best in the game. Barlow is not even close to his level.
Ok now.

I think it is far too early too call Lt2 a hall of famer, and i disagree with him being the best in the league, i put Portis as #1, and yes i've heard the arguement about his great o-line (which was ranked #15 last year), but c'mon lt2 gets the ball 80% of the time and shares no time with anyone holding the rock, portis reminds me more of sanders than does lt2, he looks like a jack rabbit with more balzing speed than lt2 just my oppinion.

i agree with you Lt2 is a level above barlow now but barlow is a great back and has the potential to be on the same level, he is just not there yet, may get there may not, Lt is there though.

I understand the Portis love. He's definitely a great young RB as well.But...who ranked the Broncos O-line 15th last year? and...are you aware of how bad the Chargers are/were in terms of O-line, QB play, WR talent, etc.? He was surrounded by garbage (other than perhaps David Boston, who did not have a good year by any stretch). Despite all that was stacked against him, Tomlinson averaged 5.3 yards per carry and scored 13 TDs! Portis had a better line, a better passing game to draw some attention away from him, and he was not as durable. I still give LT2 the nod over Portis as well, but I agree it is much closer.Besides this was a Barlow/LT2 comparison not LT2/Portis.

These stats can be looked at 2 ways for LT though. One can say how impressive they are and how bad the team is and say it is all to the credit of LT. Others can say it was easier for him to have the high rushing avg as SD was loosing in most games and teams didn't need to consentrate on the run.I happen to be in the group that thinks LT's ability is a bit exagerated by the unusual amount of touches and him being the only real option that O has. Now granted I still see him as a top 3 tallent in the NFL. Just not the head and shoulders above the pack that people seem to place him in.

I dont get it. There are people around here constantly drooling over the likes of the Tony Hollings, Thomas Jones, and SODs of the league, meanwhile theres a guy who has a career average of 4.7 y/c on 470 carries, averages 9.7 yards per reception, and is getting his first featured back slot, and he gets poo-pooed! Good lord people!

Extrapolate out the 4 games Barlow started last year to a full season:

1732 yards rushing, 632 yards receiving, 20 tds, and 5.4 yards a carry. In a standard league thats 360 fantasy points which makes him the #3 back in fantasy. behind LT2 and Holmes. What the F do you mean "can he" be a top ten back? He could be a top 3 back! How can I say that? Cuz unlike half the jokers jawed about around here he's put up those kinds of numbers already.

Now do Stephen Davis, Fred Taylor, Travis Henry, DD, Rudi Johnson, or Tiki Barber

have that kind of upside? Upside people, upside. Maybe Taylor and DD have that kind of potential, but owe yeh, most of these guys are splitting carries! Get a grip, this guy is a steal anywhere in the second round.

I tend to agree. I think people are underestimating his ability. While I'd be surprised to see him crack 1,700 yards, 1,300 seems like a very real possibility. I highly doubt that he'll be over 5 YPC next year, but I think he'll exceed 4 YPC.
