That rhymes and you know it does!

So with the emergence of Manningham and Smith, looks like Boss is not being targeted much. Thought he was the steal of the TEs during draft time, and was expecting him to get 5-10 targets a game. Will things change, with manningham and smith getting more attention as the season progresses, or is Boss going to be a dudd and time to cut losses if he doesn't have a half decent game?!? Lots and lots of young TEs out there getting decent targets to hold onto him for too long...

what ???

Got off to a slow start last year as well. Eli trusts him, especially in the red zone. I think the primary focus of the offense thus far has been to establish a credible downfield threat and to get Eli on the same page with his relatively green receivers. As defenses focus their attention on Manningham and Smith, the middle will open up for Boss. I don't expect that he'll ever be more than the #3 option in the passing game (at least this year), but he should put up FF startable numbers going forward. With so much depth at the position this year, I expect him to be one of those guys that bounces back and forth from the WW in 12 team leagues (esp with a week 10 bye) until he gets on a roll.

I think his targets will increase, but only slightly as I don't think he was ever intended to be a primary receiving option a la Shockey. His role kind of emerged as such last year with Plaxico gone, Toomer well past his prime, and the younger guys (Smith, Moss, Hixon, etc) not proving to be consistent threats.

Now with the emergence of Smith and Manningham, with Hixon and Nicks in tow, there are plenty of WR options for Eli to use as his primary and secondary reads.

I've read (Yahoo I think) that he has significantly improved as a blocker and given that the NYG are looking to improve the running game, while already having a decent passing attack...could be bad news for Boss, I'm thinking.

I was high on him because he had the ingredients of a good fantasy TE: good QB, crap WR, good running game, good OL. The WR have stepped up and he is being held in to block. Unless he is allowed to run routes more or another WR goes down, he is an afterthought.

The Giants gave up 12 of their 27 sacks in the two games against the Cowboys last year. It's clear they made a concerted effort Sunday night to correct those pass protection issues and shut down DeMarcus Ware. That was the main reason for only two targets.

Generally he'll be more involved in the passing game, but Eli is comfortable spreading the ball around, so than obvious matchups it will be tough to rely on him as a fantasy starter.

That said, if you can afford to I wouldn't give up on him yet. He'll have some big games. The Giants need to get their red zone offense going and he should be a big part of that. And, they've got a bunch of home games late in the season. The swirling winds in the Meadowlands should limit the down field options and force Eli to look his way more often.
