Kevin Curtis (1 Viewer)

There is speculation ( and that may be all it is) that Curtis may get cut. I read it in " my player news" on MFL. Not that I was counting on him to start. But if he is gone, does Macklin go outside with Jackson with Avant in the slot. Help me Eagle fans.

I have a hard time believing that. He hasn't been the most resilient guy health-wise but he's got something to offer. The Eagles aren't going to roll with only 3 WR on the roster so who behind Avant, Maclin and Jackson is pushing Curtis for a roster spot?

well, baskett has to make the team. his wife has a reality show. (lol). seriously, though, he brings something to the table no one else does. he can catch the fade. if only they'd throw it more often.

Seems like there is no way Curtis would be cut at this point unless his health is a huge question mark going forward. He is a solid player and a good team guy. Makes zero sense.

I'd imagine Maclin would be the guy. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets cut - I get the feeling the Eagles really want to keep Gibson on the roster.

Brandon Gibson is the guy making a push for the roster from out of no where. He's been impressive, really good hands and body control.

How did Curtis fall behind Brown and Baskett? If they really love Gibson why couldn't they keep:

1.Jackson

2.Curtis

3.Avant

4.Maclin

5.Gibson

?????????

Right there with you all. No way Curtis gets cut when he could get traded. My guess would be the Eagles look at some type of trade option as they are deep at wide out. If they had to cut, I imagine it would be Brown.

Guys, this was just an opinion of some columnist, just idle speculation. Reuben Frank of the Burlington County Times.

http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/news_detai...e-receiver.html

Don't react to it. Frank is a nobody in terms of Eagles inside info. He mostly covers Burlington County local and high school sports.

Curtis is not getting cut. Reid is resting the groin that had offseason surgery, that's all. Maclin will be in the mix, but for 2009 Curtis will still start as the #2. Avant will get a heavy dose of slot catches, one of Baskett/Brown will be the #5 and the other one cut or traded.

They'll probably keep 6, and he'll probably be one of them. Could go onto practice squad but there's a risk in that. He could get snagged by another team if they do this. It's most likely Brown or Baskett moves on, making room for Gibson.

I think Curtis could be cut or traded. Eventually, Maclin will take his position, but I think the Eagles think they could get buy with Avant and Baskett if they had to. They also have Gibson and Reggie Brown, and Gibson has looked good in preseason.

Not a chance.Eagles know their window for winning a title is closing, with Westy and McNabb aging. They are not screwing around "getting by" with players like Baskett. Curtis is an important part of their offense this year.

No matter what happens with Curtis Maclin has already been taking snaps with the first team alongside Jackson and it won't take much for him to be a starter.

Here's how things get blown out of proportion.

In the article I linked above a writer that doesn't even cover the Eagles on a regular basis does a little piece discussing the team's WR situation. He goes through the whole article and at the end says this:

Curtis is an interesting case. Injuries limited him to just 390 receiving yards and a career-low 11.8 yards per catch last year, and he hasn't gotten untracked this summer. But when he's healthy, he's very good.

He caught 77 balls in 2007 and bounced back to have a great postseason last year - once he finally got healthy. His 4-for-122 in the NFC Championship Game tied Terrell Owens' franchise record for most yards in a playoff game, but he's 31 now and hurt a lot.

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said Curtis remains a big part of the Eagles' plans, but it wouldn't be a shock if they cut ties with the former Ram.

"I don't have any concerns with Kevin," Mornhinweg said. "It's just simple. If he's healthy he'll play at a high level."
Why this writer put that bolded bit into the mix I have no idea, because he does so right in the middle of comments by the OC that Curtis is a big part of their plans.OK, so what happens after this article and that one tiny line is written? Rotoworld picks up the article and posts this:

Kevin Curtis-WR- Eagles Sep. 3 - 11:09 am et

According to Reuben Frank of the Burlington County Times, Kevin Curtis may be on the roster bubble in Philadelphia.

This seems to just be a case of a writer stirring the pot, as Curtis is a near Pro Bowl caliber receiver when healthy. "I don't have any concerns with Kevin. It's just simple. If he's healthy he'll play at a high level," said OC Marty Mornhinweg. He will be the Eagles' starting split end when healthy. Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett are in much hotter water than Curtis.
So Rotoworld passes along the stupid bit about him being cut, but also explains it's a guy stirring the pot. Their headline is irresponsible, and that's a shame. It's also why it's important to actually read the articles and not just headlines and regurgitated blurbs if you want to know what's going on.Next thing you know, the OP above picks up that one bit from the MFL player page for Curtis, where they use the headline "Curtis on the bubble in Philly?".

http://football17.myfantasyleague.com/2009...2580&P=7002

The OP doesn't quote the Rotoworld article which went on to explain it was one writer's meaningless idle STUPID line, he just passes along that there's speculation Curtis could be cut. And the posts in the thread begin, with some of you guys adding to the speculation. There's no basis here guys. Not even any smoke. Just one writer putting one stupid line in an article, a line that simply didn't belong there. Please. Forget the Curtis on bubble nonsense.

Only because Curtis has been resting the groin. Curtis will start, Maclin is not ready. This team has Super Bowl aspirations. Why aren't people getting this???

Every time I watch this guy I get more and more excited about his skills. The guy has fantastic body control and I would really hate to see this kid get cut. IMO we have enough guys like Kevin Curtis and so if he needs to go to keep a few of the younger guys, I am good with that. Too many injuries to the groin IMO.

I'd like to see them keep Curtis around, as he's the only truly proven vet on the team. But there's a glut at the position, and Philly will be cutting or trading a roster worthy player. As much as Eagles fans rip on Brown...he's certainly NFL roster worthy, and would be a solid pickup for a team like the Jets or Jaguars. Gibson has shown too much to try to put on the PS...he won't clear waivers.

Jackson, Maclin, Avant are the only locks right now, but Curtis is very close behind. That leaves one spot for Brown, Baskett, or Gibson...and all three should be on NFL rosters. Amendola is borderline too...but has no shot on this team.
