Kevin Jones Free Once More (1 Viewer)

Love this guy's heart, but I dunno. If I had to gamble on it I'd say no way, but maybe he could eke out some value as a backup somewhere.

Can't see it at all. He did look good to begin last year, but looked very very sluggish coming off torn ACL (I believe) in 2008. I can't imagine him being much of a factor in 2010. With the age factor now becoming an increasing issue, fair to say perhaps he won't be in the league much longer.

He'll catch on somewhere as a #3 RB, but that's about it. Would be kind of ironic if he went back to Detroit...

Problem is, for the most part RB#3 jobs are reserved for projects (Chargers are an exception with Bennett). I wish the best for the guy, but a guy with vision and no "hop" is virtually useless in the NFL.

of all the players I've been wrong on.. I think KJones surprised me the most -- I thought he was going to be a beast, sure injuries played a part, but even when he was healthy, he didn't have the speed/breakaway ability I thought he would. No one can question his toughness though

He added too much weight, lost his speed, and was destroyed by injuries. The talent was there once upon a time, but it's hard to imagine that he still has special ability.

You have to wonder what his career might have been without the injuries and if he had spent all those years behind an OL other than Detroit.

The Patriots had a man crush for him every other time he was available. He's probably not old enough to meet their criteria these days, however.

Can we just please let this guy disappear into the sunset.

Unless he wants to create comedy again and race against a 280 lb guy on a golf course and send it out to all the leagues front offices he's useless.

I would not mind seeing Jones getting another chance in Detroit.
As soon as I saw he was released Detroit came to mind as the best landing spot. They need another back on the roster, and other than his injuries I think they liked KJ overall.
If they take the healthy parts of Kevin Jones and transplanted them on to Kevin Smith, they would have a fully healthy average runningback.

It's hard to say what KJ has left in the tank, but if any RB deserves a chance to at least compete for a roster spot, it is a player like KJ who has a lot of heart and outworks everyone. I have to believe someone will sign him for that reason alone unless he just can't run anymore.

If Ki-Jana Carter or Reuben Droughns can come back from serious early injuries than he can too. He'll never be a star, but in the right situation, with an injury to the starter in front of him, he might be able to put up some numbers. Still, unless I have room on my dynasty roster for a 7th RB or something I'm probably not going to waste my time stashing him. He's a mid-season FA pickup in almost any league.

Loved Kevin Jones in college and I loved him as a Lion. How hard he played was inspiring on such a horrible team.

I was watching the game when he got injured. So silly how it happened. Forgive me if anything is a little off.....but there was under a minute to go in the first half, deep in their own end of the field, down by a good margin and Martz calls a draw where KJ gets blown up in the backfield. Boom, ACL tear. Just pointless. I'm really surprised more injuries don't happen on those worthless plays. The offense already has one foot in the locker room and the defense is looking for a turnover. Recipe for disaster.

I really hope he can catch on somewhere. I enjoyed watching him play.

:blackdot: Yudkin made a funny! Are you losing patience with the Patriots regarding their age?
On a related note, they just re-signed 103 year old Kevin Faulk today. :lmao:
Yeah.. I passed by that joke the first time around, but was reminded by it when I read Faulk was signed

I heard he was looking other places, but the retirement benefits were too much to pass up with the Pats.

His future production greatly depends on how early I drop him from EVERY ONE of my teams. The quicker I let him go, the bigger the LOCK that he returns to elite status.

I'd actually like to see him in MN as a backup if he can stay healthy he's younger then LT and probably alot cheaper

If he can pass a physical, then someone will sign him as at least a temporary stop-gap. But that's a big if at this point.

I feel for the guy. Always seemed like a nice guy and a hard worker. Whether he had elite talent, I don't know. But I always thought of him as better than average for sure. We'll never know how good he could have been. I just hate to see injuries limit someone's career development so early on.
