Is anyone expecting a spike in rec production from Kevin now that Martz is in town? Has there been any mention of this by the staff or has anyone local heard anything? How will his role change? Just curious... thanks.

In addition, will Pollard get another 46 catches this year? I cannot remember a Martz TE with high catch numbers. If this is correct, some of these 46 catches might go to the rbs

NO

I'd expect so.

I can't speak specifically to receptions, but the guy in my league who owns KJ is now valuing him as a strong #2. Basically his value seems to be back to about the level it was last year in my league.

No he wont get 46 or no the RBs wont get more?
Pollard reminds me of Dilger going to Tampa Bay. I'm beginning to think the Colts know when a TE's career is almost done and they should unload them. Gut thing.

but, I think the questions are: How will Martz use KJones? Could Bryson be used as the pass catcher? Can Jones stay healthy AND be productive? If so, I would expect Martz to get the ball into his hands as often as possible.

Pollard had 3 catches a game. What happens to these? Does he repeat? Or, does the rbs take 1-2 per game?

I would expect Jones to do OK under Martz(I'd add some rec to his total) and probably by the summer I'll be a little excited but last year's still stinging. 3 catches isn't much to ask for so that's a toughie, not sure

Huge Kevin Jones fan here, but unfortunately I don't see him becoming a great receiver all of a sudden. 30, maybe close to 40 is reasonable, but Bryson is still going to take away a lot of 3rd down opportunities. I'm still high on him, but I expect a Rudi/Perry situation between Jones and Bryson.

:goodposting: People knock Bryson, but he's very good at his role. Jones may see more pass-catching opportunities on 1st and 2nd down, but Bryson should remain the 3rd-down specialist.

This is the correct answer.

Reports I've herd is that Bryson and Jones will be on the field together alot.

Bryson will line up as the pass catching FB, Corey unfortunatley deosn't have a big role in the Lions new O.

I think Pollard could have decent numbers. true Martz past system didnt have huge TE numbers, but the Lions receivers aren't exactly dominating players like the rams were.

Have you got a link for this? I have not known Martz to run an offense with two RB's as a standard; he always wanted the extra WR.

Also, just because Martz in STL didn't run alot of 2RB set deosn't mean he won't in Detroit. I think Martz is gonna try to put the best players on the field of the situation in the game. Bryson is an excellent pass catcher and blocker. something Jones does not excell at.I think Kevin Jones' catches will go up, but Bryson will eat into that production.

Everything I've been hearing is that this will be the case.

3 WR+5 OL+ 1 QB+ 1 RB=10 only one more spot for the FB or TE.If true Pollard's not looking too good

martz Offense will have tons of different packages.some time 2wr 2 rb 1 te, sometimes 1 rb 3 wr 1 te, you know the drill.

Um, wouldn't that be Roy and Mike Williams, Charles Rogers, Pollard, and Jones?Three top WR selections, I think he runs a 3 WR set until the cows come home.

Did you sleep through 2005? :P I hope you're right, but I doubt it.

from the blogg:Role Increase For TE Pollard?

Tom Kowalski, MLive, Sporting News - [Full Article]

TE Marcus Pollard will have an increased role in the OC Mike Martz-led offense and will be asked to learn a lot of different positions in terms of playing off the line. Pollard said he's going to be running so many routes that, despite the fact he's in good shape, he'll have to get in even better condition if he hopes to remain a target for the entire game.

so who knows?

Pollard reminds me of Dilger going to Tampa Bay. I'm beginning to think the Colts know when a TE's career is almost done and they should unload them. Gut thing.
Pollard still had more receptions and more yardage than any Indianapolis TE.
