- Kevin Smith’s Effectiveness Questioned --There is growing concern over the effectiveness of Detroit Lions RB Kevin Smith, according to PFW. Although he has been effective near the goal line, at home and in close games, Smith's overall performance has left a lot to be desired. He hasn't shown the ability to break long runs, isn't a creative runner and doesn't add a lot to the passing game. For now, he'll handle the tough yards, and he mostly has run hard in his two seasons. But the Lions could lean in another direction long term at running back.
What say you?

Dude has 24 receptions in 7 games and doesn't add a lot to the passing game?

He was better last year with Rudi stealing a few carries. I could see them bringing someone else in (or trying harder to make Aaron Brown useful).

But really the Lions have enough problems, they shouldn't be spending a high pick on another RB. Maybe lineman, but not a RB.

I have never been impressed with Kevin Smith. There are at least 15 other backs in the NFL I would rather have. But he is not Detroits biggest problem.

His coach just REiterated that KSmith is their workhorse, and the injury is what caused MOMO to come in, but it is KSmith's job. Not sure who is questioning his effectiveness. He had clsoe to 100 total yards in less than a half this week. Lack of Megatron and stafford obviously hurt him, the team is not exactly great. He's a solid rb...

give the kid a break, save the rams (which he would have had a huge game if he wouldn't have gotten dinged again) he's faced solid d every game this season and done pretty damn good considering the offense's struggles. hes a second year back and hes obviously one of the few good players on that team. they would be crazy to stop feeding him the ball. as long as he's healthy he will continue to be the feature back in detroit, and i still think he'll end up a top 15 fantasy back this season.

I don't understand the facination with this guy...he is no different than Kevin Jones. He will be replaced next season for sure.
