Kevin Walter (1 Viewer)

I picked up Walter a few weeks ago but haven't started him yet (I have good WR depth). His numbers look good, especially in a PPR and with Johnson out he looks to be a solid option at WR. The most impressive stat I've seen is his targets (49in the last four weeks 10, 15, 10, 14), which I am pretty sure is tops in that period.

I haven't actually seen him play but my question is- What do you guys expect going forward? He gets very little respect in the weekly rankings and the 250 forward. Any homer insight or input from those who have seen him play is appreciated. Is he for real? What is his value in terms of WR ranking(who is he on par with?)

TIA

With Sage at QB vs Oakland I expect a very solid game out of Walter, 6-8 catches 75-100 and a TD

I picked up Walter a few weeks ago (12 team-PPR)

I like the targets regardless of the QB, last week he didn't catch until the 4th

When AJ returns (if) he'll still be the clear #2 (see Ocho and Housh)

This week he's in over Curry, Branch and Gonzo (WR/TE league) and I dropped Hilliard this week

I also have decent depth which include #85 and Santonio

Looking forward? So far he's a steal at WR3 and could get to WR2 depending on AJ

I see a lot of upside with Walter, even when AJ returns and gets the double coverage(AJ) Walter now has the confidence of the Houston QB's and will still get his due

Maybe not a ton of TD's but 75 to 100 yards per game seem within his reach.

Walter reminds me of Brandon Marshall. Not a stud, but he's going to give you consistent production as a WR3. (He's 35th in my league, with Marshall at 28).

I have watched the last couple of games. Walter has been targeted often but many of the attempts have no chance of being completed. He has great hands and if the throws were better, he would have huge stats. Houston has been playing from behind so he gets alot of chances but the defenses know they are going to throw so many of the passes are hurried because of the pressure. Walter is actually a pretty darn good WR but he is limited by Houston's stuggling offense.

I am giving serious consideration to starting Walter over Driver this week. I'm sick of Donald sucking it up, and Jennings seems to be the guy in GB for now.

Walter is a possesion receiver, and runs alot of short routes, so he is very valuable in PPR leagues. I see him getting at least 6-7 catches each week until Andre Johnson is back. I'd start him over Driver

Not a PPR league, but I may start him over Driver anyway. And it seems that Sage looks his way even more so than Schaub does. I haven't done the research on that yet though.

In my league, Walter's owner just dropped him and I am planning to swap A. Davis for him this week and start him over Santana Moss

I picked up Walter as a filler until AJ comes back, and he has definitely been better than I expected. On the subject of Rosenfels looking Walter's way a lot, the last INT this past week was when Sage threw to Walter even though he was triple covered at the time. He's definitely going to get his catches and moderate yardage this week, and is one of those guys who has a good chance to sneak in a TD in there.

On the down side, I don't think he's going to get enough looks after this week, as it really sounds like Johnson comes back after the bye. I might hold on to him week 11 to see how it'll play out, but will probably be dropping him after that.

Hackett is available on our WW. If I made a move for him I owuld have to give up Walter.

Do you like Walter's or Hackett's prospects from here on out?

Walter was the #2 in Houston before Johnson was injured, he will be the #2 when he comes back. I just don`t get the Hackett love, with Branch coming back and Burleson playing well and Engram always getting his share of targets Hackett is a crapshoot at best.
