Kid Rock's $20 tour (1 Viewer)

Dude deserves serious props. Like his music or not, he's giving back to his fans, again. I paid almost 2.5X what he's charging to see his opening act (Foreigner) at a local club last year. Went to a Walmart and got 6 great center seats for $120 out the door. Not lawn. But it's not just the low ticket prices. Included parking, $20 tee shirts, cheap hot dogs, cheap beers, no service fees, etc. Wish more artists did this...

-GO TO WALMART or GO TO A LIVENATION BOX OFFICE and PAY NO PARKING OR SERVICE FEES!
If you're willing to get up off your couch and go to one of these locations, price is $20 total. No fees. No parking fee. No taxes. Nada.

-If you want to stay on your couch in front of your computer, this is what you pay...

$20 ticket
+ $4 parking fee (parking fees go to lots, signs, cones, traffic permits, attendants, barricades, safety gear, extra police, traffic control, etc.)
+ $5 Ticketmaster service fee (this is a reduced rate)
Total = $29

-1000 Platinum Seating tickets available on LiveNation.com (in Kid Rock's ongoing effort to subvert scalpers and help fund the $20 tickets). These will go on sale at the same time as the $20 tickets.

-Beer Prices
$4 12oz draft beer will be available at all concession stands. (excluding specialty stands/carts)

-Concession Packages
2 jumbo hot dogs, 2 fries and 2 sodas for $20
4 hot dogs and 4 sodas for $20

-Merchandise
There will be $20 tour T-shirts available.

-Parking
Parking is available in the venue lot, no additional charges (the parking fee with ticket covers parking here).

I have a hunch that if the demand to see him was high enough, he'd be charging more than $20 per ticket.
And your hunch would be incorrect. This isn't the first time he's done this, and his concerts are pretty popular. 36 shows this summer and all will be sold out. Secondary market tix according to Forbes are in the $200 range.

:lmao: at eight nights at Pine Knob. Nicely done.
Six original dates but there was so much demand, they had to add two more. Everyone I know will go to one of those, it's uncanny. I bet I'm invited to at least one while I'm home. I would say there is a 0% chance I'd go, but there are a lot of cheap whores at those shows.

Flame away, I actually like Kid Rock and his music, old primarily and I can get into the newer stuff.

All over this, thanks for the heads up

At $29 a ticket (if I can't get to Walmart soon for the $20 guys), Scranton would be worth a drive from the Philly area to see him live on the weekend.

He did this a few summers ago when he had zz top touring with him...that's a nice bill for twenty bucks

I've seen him twice in the last 5 years or so (gf was a big fan)...the first one, the Born Free tour (in Orlando), he was excellent. The more recent one, the $20 tour w/ZZ Top (in Tampa), was horrible.

Saw Kid Rock in 99 at the Electric Factory. Was a pretty good show at the time with POD and Powerman 5000.

I think I paid more than $20 back then.

Hmm. You have to listen to his music? I think you overpaid by about $18. ;)

Just kidding - it is great to see artists do stuff like this is the age of hugely overpriced tickets.

Not my thing, but I had friends who went to see him at our little amp in St Augustine a few years ago and they had a blast. Not people I would have thought would a) go, or b) enjoy it. Said it was pure spectacle all the way around. Then again, these guys could have fun at a Mah Jong tournament.

hey he is good to his fans and follows the path of the brohan that is good enough for me mabye i will try to listen to some of his stuff some time take that right to the bank bromigos

Black chick white guy is his most underrated song. Never seen him do it live in the two shows I've seen.

First time I saw him tenacious d opened and upstaged him

Great song, good call. Big fan of The History of Rock also.

That may be true, but so what? If the guy makes a pretty good living from $20 tickets while maintaining a loyal fanbase, who am I to argue?

Yeah, the guy would not keep doing it if it were not worth it.

On one level, it's as simple as 1000 x $50 vs. 10,000 x $20 (simple examples of tickets and prices).

On another level, I suspect that he sells more merch and the venues sell more stuff, since people don't feel gouged by the tickets.

It is also his choice to set it at that. I am sure that Livenation wants him to charge more, as they are usually the ones to set these prices and they take a large cut.

It is a great song but don't think it would be good live. Curious though that he removed it off of the 'clean' version of Devil Without A Cause despite the worst word in the song being '####'.

That's exactly how he looked at it. He experimented by lowering tshirt prices from $40 to $20 and found he sold twice as many shirts and made just as much profit. His business model for these $20 tours is to get people to the show and have them be able to buy food, drinks, and shirts at a reasonable price. He could actually be making more profit on these shows since before most people would pay for the show and leave without spending any money. $4 a beer is still a nice profit margin.

Definitely not good for a concert. That's a deep song, you listen to that and digest it at home, not at a party atmosphere concert. Maybe it was removed from the clean version because of the content, not necessarily strings of bad words. Not necessarily something younger kids would be mature enough to understand/comprehend. Outside of that, no idea why it was left off.

ETA: Here's the song on YouTube, for anyone who hasn't heard it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLPvTbvC678
