Kids Names (1 Viewer)

The messed up kids names thread got me thinking about what normal names people name their kids that don't make you scratch your head (or maybe they do?).

So, this is where you list your kids names or potential kids names or names you like, etc and the rest of us get to comment on them.

Go.

We have three kids (and done):

Caela Nightingale (my daughter who is the big 5 years as of tomorrow)

Cullen William Rubio (My son who is 2)

Colton Rodolfo (My son who is just under 4 months)

my kids are going to be such weirdos when they get older.

Kate (just kate, not Kathleen, or Karen, just Kate) She's 10

Ian, He's 5

I mean like we screwed up, no more then 2 syllables, no i-before-e crap, no alliteration. We are such bad parents!!!

Take your crazy names to the other thread. Those are messed up. Is that two middle names for the second kid? Rodolfo? WTF is that? Caela? You guys not very good spellers?

Is your son's name pronounced E-an or I-an? Heard an announcer on the NCAA tourney who goes with I-an.

I'm leaning towards your names being more appropriate for that other thread.  Not sure how to pronounce your oldest daughter's name.

I've got a Ryan and a Trevor so pretty basic.

Ian is "E-an" right?

Middle names are all family names. Either surnames or birth names.

Tradition in my family with "C" names for the first name and her tradition is the surname for the first boy is her maiden name, so that was a done deal. She knew I was very close to my grandfather so almost last minute- she offered to have his first name too.

Rodolfo is my FIL name (and BIL). A quite common Spanish name actually.

Caela is Kayla but spelled with the "C" to fit my families tradition and two things for the spelling 1) We both really liked Michaela as a name but it was an "M", Chaela totally is confused. 2) I like the Celtic strengthening from that.

:P

One of the many reasons my wife and I will never have kids is because we'd never agree on a name.  I like the classic names (from the last century or so) like Audrey, Alice, Rose, Rita, etc.  She thinks they're boring.

Yea, that is the hard thing.... coming to an agreement on a name. But it can be kind of fun too. I am glad we are done though since the second boy was much harder to come to an agreement than the first was (not that the first was easy either).

Audrey is ok, I prefer Audrey II.

Pretty plain at my house:

Ryan

Morgan

Gretchen (old school with the final child)

Names I liked that she didn't:

Sarah

Brooke

Taylor (girl)

Trevor

Tyler

Our two boys are Alexander (Alex) and Andrew (Andy). We weren't going for alliteration, just liked the names. If our third had been a boy, we would have had to go with another A-name just because he would have seemed odd - "Alex, Andy, and Bob." Since we had a girl, we were able to break the chain and went with Emily.

Emily's middle name is Rose. The boys are Caleb and Robert, respectively. Caleb was a friend from the job where wife and I met; Robert is her dad's name, following a family tradition, just one son behind schedule. Liked the way our daughter's names sound together, and we can also say it kinda sorta comes from my Dad's name (Ross).

As to the agreement on names, with our first, we went with not knowing gender until birth, which was fun, however it meant we had to come up with names for a girl and a boy. Twice as much work!!! The others we found out, cutting our work in half!!

Gretchen to me sounds like an old person in a retirement home. That being said, I wonder if it is making a comeback. One of my daughters 'best' friends is Gretchen.

What about "Mambo"?   Everyone should be able to agree on that.

You do know that traditions can be ignored so your kids don't go through life with stupid names.

I like my tradition in my family and respect her families. I also like our names. I think that they are good balances of not being boring but not being far flung.

My three daughters names are Diamond, Amber, and Cinnamon  (this one was from a different woman). All pretty normal, imo.

 We have had people go out of their way to tell us they liked the names. So, I am fine. But thanks for your concern.
Just out of curiosity, how far out did they go? Like, we are going to Walmart in this town, but we want to swing over to the Stroma residence and let them know we like what they named their kids.

Personally, I'm joking. Pandora really seems to be having issues with this.

My sons' names are...

1. Sam Anthony (I wanted to name him Galileo, but lost   )

2. Thomas James (goes by Tommy)

I have to agree with pandora on this one.  Those names are over-the-top and just seems like attention-seeking behavior by the parents.
