Kiko Alonso traded to Philly (1 Viewer)

Young 8

He will replace DeMeco Ryans while I suppose Preston Brown & Bradham will start as ILB in Buffalo unless Rex signs David Harris.

Jene, thoughts ??

For those Alonzo owners who were pencilling in his 2013 top 10 production levels for this season, I think this move will be somewhat sobering. He went from a top 5 dynasty MLB at the end of 2013 to a maybe 25-30 guy as a ILB with the Eagles. Change of position, injury and then trade to a team that has not historically had a star IPD = tough luck for dynasty owners.

I don't disagree but it's not because of historical numbers. In the past they had little stud talent at LB and DB and outside of Cole at DE none on the line either. The last 2 years they have run a 3-4 which is a scheme change from the 4-3 they ran the prior 35 or so years.

I think fighting for tackles with Kendrick will have more to do with it than the recent switch to a 3-4 defense

Stat crew in Philly is one of the stingiest.

Stat crew in Buffalo makes everybody an IDP stud to some degree.

I don't mean to stray from the topic of conversation, but how do you know this? Do you have info/stats that prove it, or is it more from observation over the years?

Footballguys has tracked how each stadium stat crew awards solos and assists for almost a decade. The link to Larry Thomas' spreadsheet posted above has five years of tackle data broken out by season, week, and stadium and corrected for tackle opportunity -- among many, many other stats and metrics.

Good friends with Larry, can say he spends a lot of time making those spreadsheets and they are actually quite impressive. Definitely check it out if you haven't already.

Used to love the ridiculous amount of assists Fletcher and Mayo would get in their home stadiums. Those spreadsheets help a ton.

Hicks will play part of the rotation but Ryans is the first to replace Alonso. According to this, Ryans has been on a "pitch count" and wasn't being rushed in his recovery to play. Now, with Alsonso, the pitch count is over. Hicks is a dynasty buy, for sure, but Ryans is ahead of him for now.
