Update:

Felix Hernandez was diagnosed with a sprained ankle after Carlos Beltran slid into him during Monday's game.

We might have a better idea after the game whether he'll miss any starts with the injury. The Mariners are already shorthanded in the rotation with Erik Bedard expected to miss his next start, so Rich Dorman could be called up. Jun. 23 - 9:31 pm et

rotoworld:

Felix Hernandez said after Monday's game that he expects to make his next start despite a sprained ankle. X-rays on the ankle came back negative. King Felix allowed one run in 4 2/3 innings and hit a grand slam before coming out of Monday's game against the Mets.

Beltran could have done better. It looked like he cleated him purposely.
:towelwave: That was a clean slide.
http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/...egoryId=2521705Watch the video again sir.

He turns his hips to the inside of the plate so the spikes strike Hernandez' ankle.
:goodposting: Beltran was taking off at full speed before Felix's foot was even on the plate (see 0:30-0:31). As the Baseball Tonight commentators unanimously pointed out: it was a clean slide and it happened in a split second.

So, he single-handedly outscores his opponent 4-2 but doesn't get the win? Meanwhile, some guy who pitches the 7th and 8th (after the game was decided) and does get the win?

Why would Beltran purposly cleat him? That doesnt make much sense. Did he show up Santana after his grand slam? Doesnt make sense for Beltran to go after a pitcher on a last place team who isnt even in his league. Doesn't seem in character for Beltran either.
