King Felix with no-no after 6 (1 Viewer)

He took a Manny grounder right off the shin bone earlier in the game. I was surprised he didn't get hurt. I would have been crying like a little girl.

I'm sick of ESPN, though. They keep talking about DiceK, even when Felix is pitching, no matter HOW dominating Hernandez has been.

Well done JD...

Dice K looked pretty good but Felix was in a different class tonight. Dice missed high too many times.

And the ovation is for Felix, announcers. Acknowledge it.
:lmao:  :lmao: what an idiot
I got the feeling that the ovation was for Felix as well. I've been to two games where the opposing pitcher took a no-hitter past the start of the 7th and both times, I got the feeling that the applause at the breakup was for the pitcher's effort, not because someone finally got a hit.If it was for the team/Drew, then that's :lmao: . Imagine the excitement in Boston building up for the home debut of the 100 million dollar kid, and the only thing you have to cheer about is JD Drew getting a hit after the whole team gets owned by a 21 year old...? :lmao:

Jesus Colin, I don't remember you being this big a tool in the past. The crowd cheered because the Sox broke up the no hitter. No team wants to be no-hit, and no fan wants to see their team no-hit. We also cheered because they got the leadoff batter on down by 3.

 There may have been a few people cheering the effort of Felix, but the crowd was cheering for the no hitter getting broken up. No question about it.

 . :lmao: at anyone actually believing that the Boston fans would give an ovation for a guy who almost threw a no hitter against their team.

There are times where the fans "golf clap" the opposing pitcher after a no-no bid or perfect game is broken up late. But I don't think this is one of those situations. The Sox fans were clearly cheering very loud for their hitter to begin the 8th inning, and I think they were cheering after the hit for their hitter, not King.

I can agree with this. I just find it very hard to imagine that Boston fans would cheer for anyone not on their team.

Are you serious?I have been at Fenway when Sox fans cheered for Mike Mussina (A Yankee!) when he had a perfect game in the 9th broken up. It was a standing ovation.Sox fans gave Clemens (A Yankee!) an standing ovation when they took him out and everyone thought he was retiring that year and it would have been his last regular season appearance at Fenway.Sox fans gave Pedro Martinez (left town for more money and talked bad about Boston on the way out) a standing ovation when he returned.Do you want me to continue?

Standing Ovation for Cal Ripken, Jr after he broke the consecutive games streak.Standing Ovation when Orlando Cabrera returned in an Angels uniform.Standing Ovation when Dave Roberts and Derek Lowe returned for their WS rings.Standing Ovation for Mariano Rivera on Opening Day 2005 (after giving up runs in the ALCS 2004).I have seen many ovations (not standing though) for great defensive plays by the opposition.
