At the time it came out it was in the discussion of best comedies but has since been passed by a lot of film. Mostly apatow productions.

Bill Murray has obviously had more iconic roles but to me McCracken is his funniest.

Harrelson and Quaid is a weird pairing that somehow works perfectly.

Tons of quotable lines--way more than Something about Mary.

Interesting comparing the Farrelly brothers era and the Apatow era. Personally I love both styles but I think Kingpin and Dumb and Dumber rely less on pop culture references so will hold up better over time.

Very funny.

Has some hilarious lines and scenes, but as a whole, cannot compare to older classics like Caddyshack, Animal House or The Holy Grail, or newer classics like 40-Year Old Virgin, Dumb and Dumber or Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

So, where have you been for the last fifteen years?

Drinking. A lot of drinking

I see. Well, are you still drinking?

No, I quit. I.....why, you buying?

A bunch of funny one-liners and amusing situations strung together like a bunch of jigsaw pieces mashed into the wrong places. It had no narrative cohesion and was as agonizing to watch as it was hilarious to see. Such a weird unbalanced film.

I voted OK. No where near top comedies, that's for sure.

"Oh you want to play for some big money, eh? But I'll probably blow my whole bonus check because I'm so bombed."

"You get that way from drinking ginger ale, huh?"

"Uhhh... No, he was sniffing glue in the parking lot."

Top 10 ever.

I really like this movie the first time I saw it. At the time I would have said it was one of the best. However, it isn't a movie I watch when I see it in the guide now. It isn't one of those comedies that I can watch over and over again and still enjoy almost as much as the first viewing, like a Caddyshack or Animal House. It just hasn't held up over time as well as other classic comedies.

"That was really heroic."

"I did Ish a favor. If I hadn't knocked him out, those animals would have torn him apart! That's the thanks I get?"

"You didn't have to have beers with them afterward."

"I didn't want them to think we were in cahoots.."

"I think you cleared that up when you rubbed Tabasco in his eyes...."

Farelly movies are more subtle and not laugh out loud funny. They paint a comedic world very well but sometimes they dont stick in your mind as much as louder comedies.

It takes multiple viewings to truly understand the world they ate bringing you in to because each one is unique.

so it takes multiple viewings to understand the complexities of Shallow Hal and Me, Myself, and Irene??

People found Forgetting Sarah Marshall funny?

When it's on no matter what point in the movie I stop and watch til the end.

The true test of a great movie.

Don't know if its his funniest but he clearly steals the picture.

And has the world's prettiest bowling ball.

Roy: Hey, Herbie! How's life?

Herbie: Taking forever.

Neighbor: Roy, can you get sick drinkin' piss?

Roy: I think you can.

Neighbor: Even if it's your own?

Where's your newspaper? I gotta take a dump.

I don't have a paper.

I need something to read...

Here, use this shampoo.

New and improved, I already read this. You got any of that new Mentadent?

After seeing this thread I would have watched it today, but only have it on VHS. :bag:

This movie has possibly the greatest throwaway one liners in history when big Ern is being interviewed after he wins. Just mind boggling work by bill Murray here

"Are you saying you are against the handicapped?"

"What do I care I'm rich!"
