Kirk Ferentz...why are NFL GM's (1 Viewer)

After watching the Iowa/Florida game today, the announcers were talking about Kirk Ferentz and how NFL GM's have been courting this guy for years...to no aveil because he wouldnt listen. They say that for the first time Ferentz will listen this year to the Lions, Texans, and Vikings. Now personally I want the Lions to stick with Jauron, ...but what kind of head coach is Ferentz projected to be in the NFL? Why are people so in awe by him? What has he ever done to get this kind of attention. I mean...for all we know, couldnt he be the second coming of Steve Spurrier in the NFL?!?!

Uh..........no. This is about the most extreme comparison you could make. Ferentz is not even remotely like Spurrier.Do you think that these NFL teams are just repeating his name because their contemporaries are saying it? Don't you think there must be something to their interest? Try reviewing Ferentz's career, where he has already been in the NFL, what he has done at Iowa, and you will quickly see why there is such interest.

Yeah just dont understand it. I mean he may have coached some in the NFL with some great coaches, sure. But some coaches are just better suited for the college game and he may be one of them. As for Spurrier, you dont know how close the similarities are, until he is given the chance to coach in the NFL. Just because he was great in college and coached under some great NFL coaches means nothing. Personally I would prefer a coach who has strictly spent LOTS of time in the NFL...see maybe Al Saunders??? IMHO

Or he could be more like Nick Saban. I would trust the Parcells/Bellicheck line of coaches. They seem to be pretty good ;)

:goodposting: Look no firther than what nick has done here in Miami. The trend will be college coaches with NFL experience and most likely the name Parcells or Belly-chick on their resume somewhere.

That and D coordinators from the Rams coaching line (Vermiel) and O coordinators from the WCO (childress)

I for one sure hope so.
