Having not seen the game, I noticed his stat line. 2 sacks and a bunch a tackles as well! MFL has him listed as a LB and am wondering is that is where he really did play this week. Any insight is appreciated.

I watched most of the game and it seemed like they called his name quite a bit. He was indeed playing SLB. Why they haven't moved him back to DL is beyond me with their whole situation there. The Giants DL used to be one of their big strengths, and only last year they were saying how they thought Kiwi would be better than Mario Williams. For crying out loud, put Kiwi in at DE and move Strahan to SLB - that whiner #####!

That said, Kiwi has actually looked pretty lost as an LB - maybe he is getting used to it as the season goes on, but really it seemed the redskins line just sucked. IMO.

I'm going to guess the emergence of Tuck has made the decision to keep Kiwi at SLB much easier. Just think if they rushed Kiwi, Osi, Strahan and Tuck all at the same time how much fun that would be for the OL.

Thanks for the insight. Have to agree about the 'Skins line, but that was a great statline from the SLB position.

Just an FYI for some over here in IDP land

Last week Kiwi was in the DL sub-package and did very well. Both Coughlin and Spagnuolo said that will continue.

He had 7 tackles 1 assist 2 sacks and a FF last week

He only had 2 tackles and 1 assist the week before

If your next Q is who will this effect on the DL, I'd say nobody or everybody.

Tuck has been terrific to see but maybe not so in the stat column thus far. I would figure it's a pretty genuine rotation not favorring anyone. It'd be wrong to think Tuck gets bounced out. I thought (watching) he was better than Osi or Strahan in week 1 and 2.

I'm not in any IDP leagues this year. However, in years past this type news would be something that would trigger me to trade for a player as they seem to be trying to get him into a playmaker role and, probably like most of you, I didn't think he'd be much of an OLB. So I figured it was worth it's own topic for you guys.

Hope this helps

These little tidbits definitely help, especially for those of us wondering about Kiwanuka's future position, and his role this year. I am one who thinks he goes back to DE at some point. I think he could be a pro bowl defensive end. I was wondering if Tuck saw any snaps at DT. Thanks for posting this. :moneybag:

Thanks to bri, the question I asked has finally been given an "observed" answer. Which leads me to my next query. Will MFL give him eligibility at BOTH positions? Having never owner a player in this situation, maybe others using MFL can offer some insight.

I don't think so. He may have been out a bit wide like almost two DEs with Kiwi extra wide....don't think so but not 100%.Tuck is someone to watch for sure. Gonna be hard for him to make a name for himself as the 4th DE in some fans' minds but he's very very good

Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Giants LB Mathias Kiwanuka played some at defensive end and defensive tackle in the team's Week 3 game. Kiwanuka had a team-high eight tackles and two sacks in the game.

You da man Kiwi!!
Against Philly, he was playing SLB on first/second down, but seemed to be sliding to DT on obvious passing downs. May have spent some time at DE as well (I didn't watch every snap). He seemed to do much better going toward the QB than playing in space, but that is probably to be expected from a converted DL.

there was a stat change from last week's game

one of kiwi's sacks became a tuck 1/2 sack and a FF for Tuck
