RB Kevin Jones is back in starting lineup for Lions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -Lions running back Kevin Jones will get his first start of the season Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jones missed the first two games of the season recovering from a foot injury, but has had at least 10 carries in each of the past two games.

``He's ready to go,'' Lions coach Rod Marinelli said Wednesday after practice. ``He's going to start.''

Tatum Bell has started each game for the Lions this season and his agent talked to them last week about trading him before Tuesday's deadline, which passed with him still on the team.

Detroit (3-2) hosts Tampa Bay (4-2) after a bye week that aided Jones' comeback.

``The break was good for my foot, and my body in general,'' Jones said. ``I feel healthier this week.''

Comparing Lions to Colts is like apples to oranges. KJ could easily put up 40 total yards and no score.

10-40, 5-20 rec, this is the Detroit running game, and Detroit defense here, does anyone think Detroit will be ahead in the 4th quarter of this game? I can see the Lions putting the ball in the air 50 times this game.

True, but they were keying against the pass on those two pass heavy teams. When they faced Gore, and Parker, they keyed on them and shut them down. I can see them keyong on Redskins run game, and forcing Campbell, and the struggling and injured Redskins receiving core to beat them.

No link, but today on local Detroit radio it was stated Marinelli said he will give KJ between 20-25 carries this Sunday. For what it's worth it is also reported that KJ is looking great and healthy in practice this week by Marnelli.

I'm going to play him, I've waited all year for him to get the full load.

Come to think of it... here are my 4 backs, and I have to start 3 in my league.... Gore - Alexander - Portis - Jones.... Now, even though Alexander has what seems like a weak run D against him this week, he has been playing very soft with that cast. I may start Gore - Portis - K. Jones this week, and bench Alexander until he shows me something. Hopefully, he has that cast off after his bye week.

I've got to choose a RB2 between Portis, KJ and Alexander also. I really haven't given KJ much consideration and I'm surprised to see so many Portis owners thinking that way. I think we need to see a full game out of him before benching quality backs for him.

This thread has me thinking, though....maybe I could be convinced.

Still thinking of sitting Gore this week until he starts showing some life. I like the KJ matchup.

Was just offered Kevin Jones in exchange for Dallas Clark. My RB's suck (took Maroney/Rudi first 2 rounds). Am seriously considering this as I think KJ will be a stud from here out. My back up TE is Heap though (but will pick up Sypziewksi or whatever his name is)
