Kolby Smith (1 Viewer)

BUTTER

He may have value as he is the better inside runner vs Charles big play value. Should be fun to see and it will for sure help fantasy teams that need RB help down the stretch!

It may be premature to say that Kolby is the better inside runner. Sure he's bigger in stature, but we haven't seen what Charles can do yet.

After this weekend, perhaps the situation will be a bit clearer.

I can agree with that.

I see that Dodds has Kolby Smith rated quite highly this week. Is he back and worth taking a flyer on this weekend? I have five players on bye this week, and would love to find an RB that might get half a dozen points somehow. Is Kolby the choice?

You can do better than Kolby IMO this week. He has been on PUP and needs to be worked in. Maybe a NE back, or M. Morris would be options.

I've added Kolby in some leagues. Seems that other owners in most of my leagues had no interest at all in him, but if Charles starts fumbling like he's been prone to doing, Smith will start getting the bulk of the carries. I'm not expecting a lot of production, but a starting RB has some value so he's worth rostering to see what happens. I don't think LJ carries the ball again this year.

I hope you're right, I hope LJ never runs for another yard for the Chiefs again. Even though they are a division rival of my favorite team, I can feel for Chief fans right now. LJ does not represent that franchise, and I want Priest to hold onto the Chiefs all time rushing record for now. Although, LJ did help me win a championship and 300 bones the year Priest got hurt, he's still a thug.

Now LJ is gone and this article is about what I thought would happen:

Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs are likely to use a running-back-by-committee with free-agent RB Larry Johnson (Chiefs) gone. The committee will include RBs Kolby Smith, Jamaal Charles and Dantrell Savage. Charles started and played more snaps in Week 9, but Smith could eventually take more of the workload. The team still appears hesitant to give the ball to Charles in running formations.

Our view (FBG): Jamaal Charles is better and more explosive in space, but Kolby Smith is a better runner between the tackles and at the goalline. With the Chiefs playing in catch up mode frequently, it could mean more of Jamaal Charles because of his ability as a receiver out of the backfield.
