MIA"[brown and Chatman] will probably be our return guys. We want to focus Ted [Ginn Jr.] on punt returns. They briefly considered using him when B.J. Sams got hurt last year, but never did. Cory Ross and Corey Ivy got the call. This year B.J. Sams, Yamon Figurs, Cory Ross, Corey Ivy, and Donnie Johnson are all ahead of him for returns.Would MIA really risk Brown on KR duty? This would bump him into late first round territory in a local ppr league if he was looking at an extra 50 yds every week in KR.Also, Is Mark Clayton only PR or has he been working on any of the KR units?SEA - HC Mike Holmgren says he expects that WR Nate Burleson will retain the starting role on both KR and PR this regular season.MIA - The new KR tandem: running backs Ronnie Brown and Jesse Chatman.
Interesting. Is there another situation of a #1 RB handling KR duties (not counting MJD as the #1 back in Jax) in recent history?Tiki handled some punts but not KR if IRC once he was annointed/transitioned into the #1 role....Mike Herman said:MIA"[brown and Chatman] will probably be our return guys. If I had to hazard a guess at this juncture, I'd say it will be return-by-committee for the Pats. Welker, Faulk, Morris, Hobbs, Andrews and/or Maroney. Is Wes Welker indeed going to be the KR/PR guy? I've read Faulk could be the guy.
Jones has been impressive and at worst appears to be the #3 WR, even with McCardell in the mix. Mathis should be the kick returner while Jones does PR, and it's very possible Jones could unseat Kevin Walter at WR2 at some point...HOU - Rookie WR Jacoby Jones had an 80 yard punt return TD in this week's game. He is also competing for the WR2 spot.
As a Pats homer, this is correct. BB uses situational strategy with his PRs. Depending on what he wants out of the return he uses different players.I wouldn't count on too much from Welker in the return game, unless he is taking back kicks, which I have seen no indication of that happening.Someone asked a question about using KR/PR yardage what happens to D/ST. In my league, I stripped ST points away from D so now they just get pure D points. Any return yardage goes to players only. Seems to work well and no complaints.I just picked up Hester in this league. Any Bears homers have any insight into how much he'll be worked into the offense?I crunched the numbers, and even if Hester's return production is cut in half (120 pts last year=WR40 in 14-teamer i.e. highly rosterable) that would give him about 60 pts returning, supplement that with some respectable WR3 numbers, and he's easily a WR3.But my question is will he even get consistent playing time, or will it be more of a 2-3 play a game gimmick situation? Everything I read says he looks real comfortable at WR. Any chance he becomes a legit slot guy?If I had to hazard a guess at this juncture, I'd say it will be return-by-committee for the Pats. DET - Eddie Drummond is very likely on his way out in Detroit. Ellis, McDonald, and/or Walters would replace him.Can Lions homers confirm if Eddie Drummond is still the man returning kicks this year?
Yes, although WR Brandon Williams could also become more involved on kickoff returns.I see Maurice Hicks returned kickoffs for the 49ers but not punts last season.Same again this year?
Is Sproles doing both kickoff and punt returns fulltime?SAN DIEGO
RB Darren Sproles helped his job security odds with an 81 yard punt return TD at St. Louis... although the Rams tend to be generous in that department.
Odds are that he will be the primary returner on both, although Craig Davis may handle some punt returns, and Norv Turner recently indicated that Antonio Cromartie will handle some regular season kickoff returns. Is Sproles doing both kickoff and punt returns fulltime?SAN DIEGO

Rock Cartwright and James Thrash are first in line for returning kicks for Washington. Betts would step in for one of them if needed.ARE is the PR.On the first page of this thread, I saw Ladell Betts listed as one of three names for Washington.Anyone know what his return status is?TIA

Will Breaston return Kicks, punts, or both? Also, what's going on with the Jets, is Brad Miller still the PR? And is Chris Gamble going to be returning punts this season or is Ryne Robinson taking over that too?ARIZONA
"I think it's pretty obvious that Steve [breaston] has just kind of distanced himself from everyone else. He looks comfortable back there, and the thing I like is he's not afraid to hit the hole."

Gamble was horrible returning punts last year so I would say no to him. It seems that Ryne should be taking that position, at least he tries to run forward and not to the sideline like Gamble.ONE VERY VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION: Is MJD the for sure KR in Jacksonville? He was like 6th RB in my yahoo league cuz he returned kicks. 1 pt for 30yds. I don't think most folks know that in my league. Will Breaston return Kicks, punts, or both? There are no sure things in this world, especially in fantasy football, but Jones-Drew should return kickoffs and Northcutt should return punts for the Jaguars.ONE VERY VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION: Is MJD the for sure KR in Jacksonville? Yeah I'd like to see legit projections across the board. I would if I had time but I cannot. Return yards are worth alot in my league. Mike you have been awesome with this info. Thank you so much.Thoughts on how many yds KR and PR are worth?Off the top of my head I want to say 800-900 or so for KRs and 300-400 for PRs. Is this too high?

Mike Herman,If you were to guess who was going to replace Drummond on PR/KRs would you say it's S. McDonald? What are the odds that he would get the job? I have a draft on Friday evening that this legue gives big points for return yards and some drafters won't be aware that Drummond was cut and I don't think anyone will know who is going to be the replacement.DETROIT
From Rotoworld:
NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that Eddie Drummond has been released.
Drummond made the Pro Bowl as a returner in in 2004, but hasn't returned a kick for a TD since. His ability as a WR hadn't impressed and the Lions didn't want to keep him as just a returner.
McDonald probably wouldn't handle both. If I had to guess today, I'd say Troy Walters. Devale Ellis chances' are being hurt by injury.Grandville said:Mike Herman,If you were to guess who was going to replace Drummond on PR/KRs would you say it's S. McDonald? Keep in mind that Hester did not start returning kickoffs last year until the last third of the season. He will return kickoffs this year. The Bears are looking to lineup two returners deep on kickoffs, so they have less laterally running to get under the ball.Mike, In Chicago, Hester is set to handle the punts, but do you expect him to get a majority of the kickoff duties this year with Davis/Manning/Wolfe getting some as well? Last year's final returnerguys info had a 32/20/8 KO return split (Davis/Hester/others) and I don't see Hester getting KO returns in the preseason boxes so far.
