Jenkins Statement on Facebook... "Wanted to let you all know that I have loved the support and respect that you all have given me throughout my career. But it is time for the torch to be passed to the younger players. I am going to hang up the cleats! The mind is always willing to play but my body deserves the rest. Thank you for the opportunites to play Carolina and New York."

We'll miss you big guy...disappointing we did not get to see more of you in NY, but as a transplant in NC, I enjoyed watching you play with Rucker and Peppers on that line in the early-mid 2000s.

When he was on he was personally the best I have ever seen play. Jenkins was a monster with a mean attitude. He would quite often blow up linemen when they blocked him one on one. He was just too big for his knees.

BEAST!!!!!!!

Jets made the Championship game the past 2 seasons without him... Damn. I can only imagine what that team and defense would have been with THE BEAST in the middle..

The defense was supposed to be built around REVIS - JENKINS Lock down Corner Plus Brick Wall.

One of my favorite players even in CAR - some Jaw dropping plays that looked like the Kool Aide Man....

I really wish we got to see a lot more of this guy playing football. I really wish we got to see what the Jets defense could have been with their star DT...

And his injuries were kinda flukish - maybe not for someone 360lbs but, it could happen to any of these big guys, last injury he just fell over another player and :SNAP:

I agree. During the short period that he was with the Jets (and healthy) he was a joy to watch. There were a number of plays were he would "one arm" club the opposing lineman knocking him down to the ground like a rag doll and get after the QB. To me that was the biggest loss for the Jets. While Jenkins was a tremendous run stopper, the guys they repalced him with, Pouha and DeVito, were more than adequate - however Jenkins got great pressure up the middle on passing downs making the Jets pass rush so much better than it was without him. It's a shame his career ended with two torn knee ligaments. I would have loved to have been able to watch him more.

I will look for it on youtube but there was one play in particular that stands out in my mind with Jenkins> It was against Vick and the Falcons and Vick was rolling out of the pocket and Jenkins cut back trying to get the angle vick then jukes another defender and allows Jenkins to get a square solid head on hit on Vick. He hit him right in the middle and Vicks body went into a V. Of course he got a penalty but it was beautiful.
