Steelers WR Hines Ward will return for practice by Thursday and is set to play Sunday barring a very unlikely setback. Steelers expect DE Brett Keisel (hamstring) to miss the OAK game. Chris Kemoeatu's status still in doubt. Team will know more Wed. Lawrence Timmons is back

Starting left guard Chris Kemoeatu (knee and ankle sprains) and inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons (hip contusion) are expected to play Sunday, Tomlin said. Timmons and strong safety Troy Polamalu (strained Achilles tendon) will be limited in practice during the early part of the week. Starting defensive end Brett Keisel (hamstring), cornerback Crezdon Butler (quadriceps strain) and safety Will Allen (concussion) are all questionable for the 1 p.m. game against the Raiders. Allen, Tomlin said, was on track to play against the Bengals but started experiencing headaches the day before the game.

Steelers | Lawrence Timmons back this week Published Tue Nov 16 1:37:55 p.m. ET 2010 (KFFL) Pittsburgh Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons (hip) will be back in Week 11 after being injured last week, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.
Timmons was the odd man out when Steelers went to dime package more often than usual against the Ravens.I'd like to know what's going on as well. Sunday night, he seemed to be moving alright and fast.. just wasn't around the ball as much. I just want to read somebody's breakdown on his play lately.
I didn't see Timmons leave the field on any snap against Baltimore. There had been some missed snaps in the dime in the two weeks after his injury, but I didn't note any last week. The missed snaps and possible limitation to his range (which I'm not seeing much of) due to injury are concerns, but I think Timmons decline has more to do with opportunity (42, 42 and 41 tackle opportunites in the past three weeks) and the continued very good play from James Farrior. Like James Anderson, Timmons' early season numbers were on the far upper end of his expectation. His big play upside gives him LB1 value every week, but he probably belongs in the upper LB2 tier at baseline. His next two matchups (CIN and NYJ) could, unfortunately, go either way. But I think he's got too much upside to bench unless you're in a start 1 LB league.Timmons was the odd man out when Steelers went to dime package more often than usual against the Ravens.I'd like to know what's going on as well. He's been dropping into coverage more. Don't think they're doing anything to 'mask' the situation, perse, although I'm sure he's not as healthy as he was(who is after 14 weeks?). That injury is 5 weeks old now and I don't recall thinking he's looked like he's favoring anything when I've watched the games the past several weeks.Could be as simple as this: Everyone is beat up at this point in the year, and Farrior's not good in coverage anymore at 100%. Timmons is their best coverage LB, so it makes sense, on at least one level, that they've been using the younger/better option dropping back more often and curtailing the blitzes he was doing earlier. Particularly when you remember that, as of late, teams have pretty much stopped trying to run on Pittsburgh at all.Timmons is clearly not the same since the injury. From what I've watched, I personally think the Steelers are also playing/positioning him differently to mask the situation. He was near the ball on almost every play before the injury. Now its Farrior.
The hardest thing for me to understand is how Farrior is able to consistantly outtackle Timmons over the last 3-4 weeks while being the only Pitt. linebacker not playing everydown. I would assume givin their strength against the run they play a lot of subpackages where Timmons is on the field and Farrior is not.5-ish Finkle said:He's been dropping into coverage more.
