Ladanian Tomlinson - Questionable (1 Viewer)

Anybody see this article: http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2008/09/20...4ca007b5d64.txt

Of particular interest is the notes at the end:

"RB LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) practiced again Saturday, and Chargers coach Norv Turner said Tomlinson looked and felt good. "Obviously, the issue is sustaining it and how long it feels that way," Turner said. ... Pro Bowl LT Marcus McNeill (neck) said he's ready to play Monday against New York after having a solid week of practice. "My biggest thing is I wanted to get out there and show them I was 100 percent so I could play," McNeill said. "You kind of leave it to the discretion of the head coach and see what he does with it." ... RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) was added to the injury report Saturday. He's listed as probable."

I'm wondering now if I should bench both LT and Sproles. My only other option though would be to go with DeAngelo Williams, Chris Perry, or Jerricho Cotchery. None of those seem very intriguing.

Looks like Sproles might be banged up as well. Saw this on rotoworld.

LaDainian Tomlinson (turf toe, questionable) practiced on Saturday. In a surprising late move, Darren Sproles was added to the injury report as probable with a hamstring injury.

Sproles is still slated to face the Jets. Coach Norv Turner said LT looked good, but, "the issue is sustaining it and how long it feels that way." Tomlinson seems unlikely to play a full game or top 15 touches. Neither Chargers is a great RB2 at this point. LT could still carries between the tackles, including goal-line chances. If I start LT I will get 9 carries; 42 yards; 2 catches 6 yards and 0 TDs

If I bench LT, he will explode for 15 carries 132 yards; 4 catches 52 yards; 2 TDs

 :goodposting:

I'm taking a flyer on LT only other options are Maroney or Ronnie Brown. News from Sat. practice does sound more promising.

I'm starting Sproles, hammy ding or no. LT needs to rest and I am hoping Norv is using some gamesmanship and will actually not play LT at all. For long term success it just makes sense to give him time to heal. A little LT every week won't cut it and I would think they know that. Let him heal.

I have Lebdale too but I am going to chance it on Sprols and hope Norv shows some sense.

The Chargers are 0-2, they're not going to rest him unless he can't go. The thing about fantasy football is if you bench/rest him as an owner, that doesn't mean he's going to be resting Monday night. The Chargers are in a must win situation and if LT can play, he'll play. I'm starting him over Selvin Young. If LT only has 2 or 3 points again this week then I guess I'll have to reevaluate but unless I hear before 1 PM he's out, he'll be in my lineup.

So much depends on your options. I'm going to start both LT and Sproles, since my other option is Jamal Lewis against Baltimore. if SD gets up big, Sproles will get the 2nd half carries. It may be more valuable to get all the RB points from that team as opposed to some other combo.

At least I'll have something to look forward to on Monday night

The more I think about it.....

There is no way he doesn't play. He says its getting better, he has had more time to rest. I didn't draft him to sit the bench. :tumbleweed:

Not many of us are worried about him being out. We're worried about another game like last week where he starts but can't produce.

Well the Chargers are 0-2 and the Broncos may be 3-0 by game time. Sproles now has a hamstring issue. I keep putting LT in and out of my lineup. My other options are LJ, McFadden, and White. I think LT plays, I just don't know how.

I have done the same thing. I finally said "F it"......he is in. It will be way more fun to have him on monday night....regardless of the result.

Does Hester have any value if LT does sit out (which I dont thikn will happen BTW). I got outbid on Sproles, and thinking about grabbing Hester so I have someone to plug in just in case he sits.

LT will start and play. I would think Hester would be available on Sunday night or Monday morning if you had to grab him in case of emergency. I am starting LT. Had Pittman starting over him but I think LT gets it going this week.

I drafted him #1 overall...I can't bench him unless he's out.

FWIW I'm playing LT over FTaylor this week. My RBs have gone from looking pretty solid on paper in the preseason to the weakness of my team. Dammit.

No pickups after 1pm today... I think Im going to grab Hester anyway. Gives me some insurance just in case...

 I'm going with LT as well for these reasons. I can change on Monday if I want

I can't make up my mind. I am starting Portis, but can't decide on LT or MJD. I like the idea of having a stud in LT on Monday night, but I figure whichever one I start, it will be the other's breakout week.

Good luck with that

Fascinating stuff, really, but no one cares, dude. This is for LT2 injury info/updates, not a thread about how people are going to deal with Tomlinson being in or out tomorrow.....

Easy pal..the game is not till tomorrow night,. how are we supposed to know now?

The problem is that the minute I have posted things about a certain player in the forum it gets merged with the injury thread. A little consistency is nice as well.

I have Coles as a secondary option. Just thought you'd like to know. I'll keep you updated.

I can't find anything online this morning concerning the latest update. Right now I have a fairly comfortable lead, but my opponent has Rivers going tonight while I have either LT or Sproles (I could also always start Cotchery). As long as Rivers doesn't blow up, I should be okay, but it sure would help if I started the right guy.

Anybody from San Diego have any local news? How serious is Sproles hammy? Any new news on LT?

With all the talk and speculation, we won't know until tonight- which for most everyone is a bit too late. Most drafted LT at #1, IMHO, it's way too early to call him done. He's been the most consistent player in football the past five years, never misses games.

Even if he's a bit slower due to age, wear and tear- he's way to talented not to produce.

Let's not forget he always starts slow, LT doesn't play in preseason so they can keep him healthy and fresh- that's why he's always a late season monster. This injury is a fluke if you saw the play, its probably going to be a couple more weeks before he's normal again. We'll just have to keep playing this game for a while.

Besides 2007, these numbers aren't too bad...First three games of:

2007: 130 yds rushing, 99 yds receiving, 1 TD

2006: 300 yds rushing, 76 yds receiving, 3 TDs

2005: 316 yds rushing, 28 yds receiving, 6 TDs

2004: 268 yds rushing, 82 yds receiving, 2 TDs

2003: 232 yds rushing, 105 yds receiving, 1 TD

2002: 289 yds rushing, 76 yds receiving, 3 TDs

2001: 310 yds rushing, 54 yds receiving, 5 TDs

Watching the NFL channel, just said that it's the same injury he had in 2003 but much worse. They said he made need a few weeks off for rest.

LOL, gee ESPN, thanks for the breaking news. This helps us LT2/Sproles owners as much as a call to Miss Cleo! :kicksrock:

I need 19 points to win and need to decide between LT2 and Sproles. I'm thinking Sproles strictly based on the fact that the toe is about the same as last week and look what happened then.

I'm going Sproles and Coles over LT tonight.

I think - especially for Ronnie there - if you are down a bunch you have to roll sproles out. You can't afford to have LT give you three points. LT may play but I think they use him sparingly at this point and as long as Sproles is effective, LT will get a lot less carries.
